You wonder if the pitches aren't tailored to spec to level the game and give some of the teams an advantage (or disadvantage as the case may be)?

In the case of Ireland v West Indies, Simmons stated that the pitch would not suit the slower ball. Yet the West Indies' bowlers still misread the pitch and overdid the slower ball.

Not really these pitches have so far pretty much played how they historically played.

You guys do realise Farhaan was injured/unfit so still gaining fitness. QdK has been below par yet he's "given a pass" since still getting up to speed. Farhaan would appreciate the love too. #justsaying

I'm not happy with the Proteas. Most teams having us 4 down in that position would've bowled us out for under 200 as NZ did in the warm up. JP has been one of our top batsmen in LOIs along with Amla&Miller, so he could've been good for some runs, but I doubt we'd have passed 200 against better sides.

So Proteas have a lot of work to do. Not often that both Amla&AB will fail often, but it's quite possible that both Morkel&Steyn will have little impact in this CWC. Zimbabwe batted with ease and Chibhabha&Masakadza gave away their wickets. ZIM were only one down until then. During their partnership I saw absolutely nothing to suggest that any of our bowlers could get them out.

Lots of praise for Tahir but I thought he was ordinary. I expect better bowlers to put him to the sword if he bowls like that again. I think the team is going to have to be changed quickly. Both bowling&batting feel light. JP was fortunate the wicket fell but he was fetching too, so it it means him&Farhaan won't exactly fill the fifth bowler's allocation.

Amla, Faf, AB(c-wk), Miller, JP, RR, Philander, Parnell, Steyn, Phangiso, Tahir

QDK has 6 odi 100's in 37 games behind his name, quite natural for people to be more patient with him. Besides he did score a 60 in one of the warmups.

Behardien hasn't done anything with ball or bat to justify the spot...

He's been exemplary, behind the stumps, since returning. Hasn't put a foot wrong. The runs will come.

Double standards guys. We shouldn't have taken some of these guys to the CWC in the form or condition they were in so at the sign of danger changes should be swift. Runs will come, but I doubt it'll be during this CWC. For what its worth QdK loves the Indian attack so I hope he reconsumates that love soon.

When he's fit is he going to bowl 115 kph lollipops instead of 105 kph? :p

Best wishes to him...everyone selected deserves to have a good WC.

Time for another wager? :D

QDK - at least one match winning century during the CWC.

Huh...who bets against their own players? What kind of pyrrhic victory would that be if you won the bet?

Problem is that the CWC game starts right after the Deepdale clash on 203.

You sir are a die-hard. Your motto I'm sure is "Sleep when you're dead". But may that be an eternity away. Enjoy it if you're not sensible enough to retire for the night.

You in Joburg? Bucket loads of rain. Kids are restless and missus wanting to know if I am going to sleep
