This is going to be a tight world cup! I think all teams can take very little for granted...

You cant really read too much from these warm up games apart from seeing which individual players are in form because of full squads playing. Not sure how to look at these games.

True that Stefan, although I am a little relieved Qdk got some runs, where as Dilshan continue his good form... SL might be a dark horse here...

Yup, don't discount Sangakkara or Jawardene. SL will want to give these two a fitting send off in what will be their final world cup.

Don't read a lot; but IF I was to read anything into our game, I'd look at the fact that we were put under some pressure in chasing a total and we came out on top. I think we were a hundred and something without loss and then proceeded to lose 5 wickets relatively cheaply. Yet we managed to still get over the line despite the lower order in, the required run rate high and multiple rain delays that disrupted our game throughout the day. We could easily have folded and just chalked it up to it being 'just a warm up game'.

Rain delays are especially possible in NZ and it will need to be a consideration. Really hope that D/L will not be the scourge of the tournament. The warm up games will be critical to some of the teams to acclimatise themselves to conditions and get game time for some of their players. Rain will not be helping their cause. So Zim were the net-losers today. Pity for them.

ICC World Cup Warm-up Matches, Afghanistan v India at Adelaide, Feb 10, 2015

http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-cricket-world-cup-2015/engine/match/806125.html

India 364/5 (50.0 ov)
Rohit Sharma 150
Hamid Hassan 1/49

India won the toss and elected to bat

Some wishful day-dreaming :)

Sandeep M: "Guys, this is called the chain of anger. Aus thrashed India after setting a massive score. India will thrash Afghan today after setting a massive score. Afghan will thrash UAE in their last warm up. UAE will take their anger into the WC and fight their way to end up 4th. They will face Aus who top their group. UAE will then thrash Aus to complete the circle. #OMG Aus KO'd in QF yet again!!"

ICC World Cup Warm-up Matches, Ireland v Scotland at Sydney, Feb 10, 2015

Scotland 296/6 (50.0 ov)
Ireland 83/5 (18.0 ov)
Ireland require another 214 runs with 5 wickets and 32.0 overs remaining

Plenty of time left in the game, but at 5 down this warm-up match is probably going to plan for Ireland.

India's bowling looking pretty dreadfull, struggling to make inroads vs afghanistan. Surprised that ireland would lose to scotland.

@stefan9, the Indians are making heavy weather of their time in the field. While we all expect Afghanistan to be rolled over, they are a plucky and spirited bunch. Credit to them too for not making it too easy.

Not taking anything away from Afghanistan I like their spirit. You would still expect a side like India to do better then this. Its not like they are resting any bowlers, this is their first choice bowling lineup.

Yup! Their first choice line up is going to struggle on these surfaces against top quality sides.

So now that I have rendered unto them such tremendous praise, the Afghanistanis are throwing it

If memory serves, this is Ireland's second heavy loss in the CWC warm up matches. Their previous opponent though eludes me (yes, too lazy to look it up :p )

More than 34,000 votes were cast by people as they voted in their World Cup XI, which includes the five batsmen, two all-rounders, one wicket keeper and three bowlers, which people think would light up the tournament more than anyone else.

The People's World Cup XI are:

1. Hashim Amla
2. Brendon McCullum
3. Kumar Sangakkara
4. Virat Kohli
5. AB de Villiers
6. Steve Smith
7. Shakib Al Hasan
8. James Faulkner
9. Mitchell Johnson
10. Dale Steyn
11. Lasith Malinga

That's actually quite a nice team :)

Based on recent performance, I might be tempted to drop Kohli for Rohit Sharma.

No worries big cheese. Found it on Cricinfo. It was a game against a club side. Here's the score card.
