Grief. That must have really hurt their confidence.

That's actually quite a nice team :)

Based on recent performance, I might be tempted to drop Kohli for Rohit Sharma.

Good call.

I think James Faulkner could be the factor that separates Australia from the other teams.

He has a mean slower ball at the back end of the innings. Very well disguised and executed.

His batting ability also...seen him very calmly close a few games in the last 2 seasons. That's very valuable when the pressure is on in a knock-out tournament. Hoping JP can exhibit the same kind of temperament as he's done in the past.

Scary, 5 out of our 8 bowlers went for over 7 an over with suprise suprise, Abbott being the pick of our bowlers.

Didn't even notice the NZ bowling figures! Also, Philander has our 2nd highest score. Luckily it's a warm up.

Yeah, I'm sure in the cauldron of a high pressure match in a knock out stage we'll do a lot better!

3 positives we can take out of this warm up:
1.) JP and Vern's knock
2.) the match ends in max another 8 overs
3.) we don't play at Hagley oval, in either pool or knock out stages

8 down and the end for the Saffer's ignominy is nigh.

You can another point to your earlier post, sand_man, Vernon appears to be solid enough with the bat to add a bit of strength to the tail... not that the tail should ever have to save the day.

Pfft! and then he coughs it up. Capitulation complete.

Choke en kry klaar. Lets hope that was the last time. I am probably expecting too much of this team.

Well if Zim did that to Sri lanka, i think we will have a tough time against them.

ICC World Cup Warm-up Matches, Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe at Lincoln, Feb 11, 2015

http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-cricket-world-cup-2015/engine/match/806131.html

Sri Lanka 279/8 (50.0 ov)
Zimbabwe 281/3 (45.2 ov)

Zimbabwe won by 7 wickets (with 28 balls remaining)
Let us not forget to mention that they were going to obliterate NZ as well - the side that just embarassed the Proteas!

Once again I stand by my prediction that Tahir will be dropped and carry drinks for the rest of the tourney.

Smashing NZ at home and flaying SL with ease must surely mean the chokers will have a game on their hands first up. Personally I thought ZImbabwe would be slightly weakened considering they left out their best batsmen against seamers - Vusi Sibanda. But Hamilton Masakadza who has shockingly never played a CWC before seems very much like he's very much up to it since it might be his first and only chance. Taylor&Williams are weak against pace, but by the time they come in the slower bowlers will be in operation. I think the first game will be interesting.

So Proteas have Zimbabwe, while Springboks have Samoa. I'll take a punt.;)

They've never struglled to put on high scores against us when we're hosting them, even during the time of Ntini, Polly & Steyn.

But when I think about it 197 all out is a big concern! One thing this match does is lend weight to my argument that the two most important players for us are Amla&Philander!

WI created a false economy?
I did say if Pakistan were playing like WI match-fixing claims would've been thrown around in the media.

But a team with Amla, AB, JB, Steyn&Philander in the XI is well class boet. Throw in Tsotsobe and they would've been favourites. Miller will step up with the bat and put on a destructive innings too once in a while. WI aside there's enough talent to make the QFs and maybe the SFs.

Abbott being the pick of our bowlers.
Even though his first wicket came at 240/4 in the 38th over, and his second one came in the final over at 322/7, while the Proteas got bowled out for 197? NZ could've all retired before he even got a wicket and we'd still have lost. That's how much impact he's had in any match throughout his short&ineffective career. He'll babysit teams to high scores right through. Poses zero threat that guy!
