Difference between SA on Tuesday and Australia today - Starc, Hazlewood and Johnson's combined figures - 5/119 of 28.5 overs (run rate of 4.12).

Le sigh.
 
Can't support either side as I can't stand any side with warner in there and can't stand the kiwi's since the 2011 incident.

Referring to their 12th man running out and having a verbal go at faf. Not cricket having someone that isn't even in the match day squad doing that...

Either way, they have played their cricket 100% the right way this world cup.

Kyle Mills and he is still in their squad this time round.

So Warner has behaved him so far in this world cup, doesn't mean past incidents are forgotten that quickly...

Waiting for some sort of confirmation...though it may never come. If it's true, I expect AB and some of the others would seriously be considering quitting...I know I would be.

No need to quit, just won't "make" Protea team anymore. Become a gun for hire on the county circuit and all the T20s

Most of team have been in Oz since the beginning of November too....all that preparation, plus they may not even recognise their kids anymore.

That is just 'dog whistling' and hoping there is some truth to it so that they can blame the 'system'.

The following is more likley and what I have been saying as well:

I think there are four reasons we didn’t win the semi-final against New Zealand. First, the New Zealanders bowled superbly up front and we didn’t. I agree our outstanding bowlers were Morne and Imran. Second, Brendan McCullum took the game away from us by scoring 59 off 26 balls and taking the pressure off the batsmen who followed. We had no answer to his onslaught and by comparison both our openers failed. Thirdly, the rain, which was a disaster for us as we were going so well. Coming back with 5 overs left did not give us enough time to recover from a comparatively slow start. The weather always seems to be against us in these cricket world-cups and Duckworth-Lewis definitely doesn’t level the playing fields. Finally, I agree the omission of Kyle Abbott was strange and Vernon did not bowl well, but I don’t believe the decision was ‘political’. I reckon they thought he would strengthen the team, especially the batting, with our worry about the 5th bowler. Disappointed!

I will exclude the rain and DLS because you have to work around that and it affects every team (and both teams here, and besides AB ought to have known- would have- that it was going to rain for as long as it did).

On the Eden Park pitch they needed more swing, not pace. Boult swings a lot but only bowls low to mid 130's. This is what Vern brings to party. The question is then do they take the 'easy' option and replace the guy who substituted him when he was injured, or look at the reality and know that Steyn never swung anything in CWC and is straight up and down outside off which works well for him in tests. They were never going to drop Steyn for Vern/Abbott so what to do? They were sitting there contemplating "we need swing , we need swing or we are screwed" That is why Vern was brought back, besides been able to clout the ball if required.

When all is said and done they lost not due to DLS, Vern vs Abbott etc- but the fact that their main strike bowler did not control the game at the outset. Withe Vern you could half expect that the odd ball not swinging will get clouted, that's the risk. With Steyn, he was not adapting, no variation "You just hit me for 6..I will bowl the same ball faster then".

Then at the death, he still hasnt learnt. Gives Vettori backing off a nice juicy ball outside off to jab for 4--seriously Vettori didnt even have to hit it. Why doesnt he bowl at the feet I have no idea. Then he just bowls as fast as possible to Elliot, nice juicy volley "thank you very much, the faster it comes the less effort I need to put it in row 17"

And besides all of that...it is wishful speculation to think that Abbott would not have been clouted out of the attack even more than Steyn, by McCullum
