Hey Agent_Smith, was just about to post that. What an awesome read. So many interesting points to ponder.
I read Martin's original note where he picked the Saffers. Like he says, his heart is dressed in black, but his head says it's the Proteas. I have a lot of respect for Martin Crowe for the manner in which he reaches across borders.
Do you think Shane Warne would've been this successful if he bowled during a time of high tech video analysis which today rips apart every spinner from all angles? Add to that the confusion to contian in T20s, which messes up the ability of most spinners to attack confidently in Tests? Just look at how well Clarke, Steve Smith, KP, Amla, AB etc all non-subcontinent batsmen, have dominated the best spinners of their time. If we remove that freak of nature Steve Smith who adheres to zero convention, bats like a praying mantis on steroids and has a stance that resembles a crackhead overdue his fix, you can tell how much assistance video analysis has been. I reckon a lot of the old batsmen would've got the better of Warne with that kind of assistance.

3/4: Faf and AB probably shade Watson (in particular though he can bowl) and Clarke. Smith at 4 probably evens out the score with AB on present form
5/6: Clarke/Smith and Maxwell ahead of Miller,Duminy
KJ O'Brien to Shaiman Anwar, 3 runs, back of a length outside off and is that the hundred? Yes it is! Brilliant stuff, and that's a brilliant bit of batting to get to the landmark, dabbing it away into the gap to the left of short third man and picking up three. Takes the helmet off and sinks to his knees, huge grin on his face. This has been a wonderful innings.
So MC comes out and says indirectly AB is a poor captain, Parnell is the right selection just needs to open&be challenged, Steyn&Morkel have been rubbish, QdK a tailender in disguise, Amla forcing the issue and AB's batting has been poor since that WI gifted madness. In a nutshell he's saying the Proteas have been horrible barring Philander&Tahir. At least he can still agree with me while I sound wrong. Then again he wants to turn Rilee into one half of Albie, while AB assumes the other half so what do I knowAn open letter from Martin Crowe to AB de Villiers
Interesting read. I particularly like his ideas regarding Wayne Parnell. Why not give him the new ball? A left armer bowling some gas with a swinging new nut? What's not to like...
Steyn&AB. Steyn basically copied Mitch, and AB is now feeding of Steyn.I really liked what MC had to say - especially the bit about getting the guys to do different things and changing them around.
Also, he's right, get rid of that damn scruffy beard!
Get Dale to relax, get rid of the stunned mullet look,

Interestingly MC concurs with some of the guys who say Faf has grown arrogant, but to "blame" AB for that is giving him too much credit. Faf is being Faf. Faffing around!
The reason why we don't progress is because people are too polite and diplomatic on our sportspeople. What I said is essence what MC meant in a diplomatic sense.Odd, are we reading the same article?!
Your interpretation is shrouded in negativity and assumptions and reflects your bias and prejudice, with barely a vague reference to what he is actually saying...
I want Ireland to win so that doesn't suit meI predicted a UAE win, so suits me.
10.4 Amjad Javed to Joyce, no run, bowled him! Or is it? Oh man. That was the yorker on off stump, and it hurried through Joyce before he could bring his bat down. Hit the side of off stump, the off bail went off its groove, all lit up, only to land back in it. How unlucky is that?
