Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

The way we lost this match is not excusable in any way  Just admit that we choked again.

The middle order need a swift kick up the backside this evening. Their shot selection was terrible, and really flattered what amounted to good (not great) bowling. It would be easy to blame the top order, but really this would have been a simple chase had just one of the middle order batsmen stuck around with AB and played intelligent cricket.

Well done, Pakistan.

This was a seam bowling pitch and we failed to capitalise on it,there's no excuse for that.

Steyn is firing on less than all cylinders,Morkel is below average in this tournament,Parnell went wayward fast,Abbott is average and basically only Imran Taahir has been bowling decent. So a very average and below average bowling performance at this world cup so far no stand out performers.

We are missing a quality finisher like M. Hussey and Symonds. Duminy's a joke.

Oh well, extremely poor shot selection from 5 of our top 7. Drop QdK for Philander. The extra batsmen is not doing us any good in crunch games anyway

That wouldn't be a bad move. Our top order are fine - one or more always fire. Our middle order are (in crunch matches) the reason we usually collapse, especially when chasing. Extending the middle order a bit to give us more fight while strengthening the bowling is a smart move.

QdK is not showing any signs of firing in this tournament yet and I"m not sure the risk of playing him is now worth it.

This is why you should never get carried away with big wins against lesser teams.

I have never rated Morkel as an ODI bowler.

No we didn't choke. Amla fell early. Against decent opposition it will happen to us again if he falls early. Look at how WI tried to defend 182 against India. They'd have done the same to us if Amla had fallen early in that game too. Instead he got 65 and fell in the 30th over 146-3.

Ja, but who then keeps? Better to have AB without gloves.

If his back is up to it I say let him keep. Either way we need to sacrifice someone or something from the lineup.

The alternative is to shift QdK down the order, but who do you open with? And it doesn't strengthen the bowling unless you drop either Abbot (who doesn't deserve it) or JP who can be a rock when he's in form, and that rock may be needed. I feel shifting batting orders and changing the team is not a dynamic we should be playing with right now. It's high risk, minimal reward.

He is a passenger at the moment. Screwing up the intended balance of the team. There is Miller, Roussouw, Duminy still patrolling the outfield, so AB taking the gloves is acceptable IMO

He seems to be our weakest link,Abbot bowling better than him, keep the team as is and replace Morkel with Philander who is a good bowler and can bat a bit also....

Maybe move QDK down the order to help him gain some form maybe at Number 3.

Why do they insist on keeping Morkel on for the ODI format?
