Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

To be honest, Sri Lanka already lost the game at the toss.
This is Sri Lanka not the Proteas boet. Toss not a guarantee. Anything less than 320 and they're still in it. Dilshan, Sanga, mahela, Matthews. We've got only two world class matchwinning batsmen Amla&AB(sorry JP) and they have four. That's the difference, and that's why they make so many finals.

Hard to believe we rolled them in the warm up. Also hard to believe NZ rolled them in their series. SL were tournament favorites for me. That chase against England was majestic but today I see them capitulating tamely.

Against pace SL are the best subcontinent side. Of all batsmen I've ever watched in world cricket Sanga&Mahela are the two who get out more down to themselves than the bowler. AUS will give them the pace to play with. They'll lose but I doubt they'll fold tamely. I hopr they get out at least with 75 runs of the score so I can get some SB bonus points. I'm a little bit shocked most guys have an AUS win by less runs. I'm very interested to know why. Is it because they rate Malinga that highly or were hoping Herath plays? It's a confusing trend.

Last game out Aus couldn't score 150 and SL chased down 310 against England. That's what influenced my pick.

I really think it goes down to the toss. If I knew Oz were batting first, I would probably go 80 runs. If only SB allowed you to make picks up until just after the toss so you can adjust.

Cool little story by Phangiso on at the moment, he says when he was younger, Makhaya came to him and gave him his Jersey and said "You look cold, and soon I'll be old and sick"

According to sandman you'd still be another 30-40 runs short.

Very nice. We call it "ubuntu". Not Mark Shuttleworth ubuntu of course :D

I've gone OZ by 65. If SL are up for it I should be close. I'm worried they collapse for 200odd on account of chasing an impossible target against arguably the best bowling attack in the competition.

Also SL have all but qualified. There's no pressure on them to win this one. Sure they'd like to but a loss won't compromise their campaign.

When you look at it AUS left 50 runs on that pitch. Maybe 70 considering Herath wasn't there. This is actually a poor bartig(&runnin) performance.

By that I mean maybe the guys are right. Watson, Maxwell, Doherty&Faulkner will fetch. Who picks a frontline spinner against SL...

So we should be playing Sri Lanka in the quarters if they lose today. We are pretty much guarenteed second and whoever loses today is pretty much guarenteed 3rd, scotland in both their last games.

You have little faith that IRE and/or ZIM can surprise IND and pit us top?

Even if they lose 1 game we still can't go top. Doubt they will lose to Ireland and Zim

The most dangerous scenario I guess is Mitch Johnson battling to avoid playung second fiddle to Starc. Australia are greedy. They have enough batsmen and don't need to bat this deep. They should've just selected Ryan Harris so there'd be no doubt about the winner. Didn't these guys have McGrath, Tait, Lee&Warne all in one go?
