Official ICC World T20 thread

I've worked out why the Windies lost.

They were behind the run rate all the time while Gayle was batting...
....according to the Killadoob theory on Kallis this means that Gayle as the common factor was entirely to blame.

Don't blame the guys who got ducks or 3 from 10, 7 from 15 etc...it's Gayle, 63 n.o. from 50 playing for his stats again.

:D:D:D

lol :D

(I had been thinking about posting something similar, just to wind killa up:p)

Hahaha... Indeed... Absolutely no understanding or appreciation of the dynamics of the game... But I sometimes believes he argues for the sake or arguing... He likes to play devils advocate..

Ok i will defend myself one last time, firstly the 2 games totally different, nobody in west indies got into double figures but gayle, they were 3 wickets down with 1 one on the board we had some runs at least and they never had the chance to rebuild anything because they kept losing wickets, we finished with 6 wickets in hand they had none left we still lost as did they. Also the batsmen that did come in like sarwan, chandelpaul all tried to hit boundaries :p, something we should sit duminy down and show him, if someone had supported gayle he would have taken his chances and hit as many fours and sixes as he could unlike kallis :p but i feel sorry for gayle because nobody even got double digits but him, kallis on the other hand had support from duminy and other batsmen to come in fact 7 other batsmen to come.

Now if gayle had support like dilshan or kallis he would have hit a ton off 65 deliveries.

Anyways thats the last i will say even though i know you guys know the 2 games totally different :p in the way it played out :D

Anyways i hope the final is a nice high scoring game :D

Exactly, what they needed was a JP to come in, play with some discretion and support the batsman at the other end... Then they may have come close to winning rather than the hiding they eventually got... So you reckon a 57 run defeat all out is better than a 7 run defeat with 5 out? You reckon the West Indies made a fist of it? Had they 3 or 4 wickets in hand going into the last 5 overs with 15 required per over and Gayle still in they may have had a chance... What the West Indies showed was a lack of application and patience and as a result they capitulated tamely in the end...

Once again I reiterate you have no understanding or appreciation of the dynamics of the game...

Not at all but lets say for instance chanderpaul came in and was keeping the runs moving like duminy gayle would have smashed the ball all over the place but gayle and the west indies never actually recovered there situation, they kept losing wickets and they never recovered. If they had recovered to lets say 75/4 gayle would not have proded singles he would have smashed every ball he could.

I never said losing by 57 was better i said that at least they tried to hit out, the west indies where finished in the first over, they then never had a single person supporting gayle. SA recovered from a bad start and kallis/duminy had rebuilt the innings we had another 7 wickets to come in i am sure that by the 12th over us only being 3 down as opposed to the west indies being 6 down is on a totally different scale.

What is the difference between losing by 8 or 57? Does that mean you did not lose?

I cannot understand how you cannot see we had big hitters and 7 wickets left from the 12th over and am amazed you think that is the same as the west indies being 6 down with all their main batsmen out apart from gayle

You speak of dynamics?

8 overs 7 wickets 80 runs, we push singles till the 16th not losing a wicket and now need 13 runs an over, i would back our 7 wickets to get 80 runs but you cannot get them if your not smashing the ball
WI had no one left who could do anything so the dynamics of the 2 games are a stark contrast in my opinion.

So explain the dynamics of having 7 wickets in hand and not smashing the ball? Explain why would a team with 7 wickets in hand would not hit out before they need 13/14 to an over with umar gul to bowl 4 of those 8?

Is SABC showing the T20 final?

Yes they are. They have a slot from 3pm - 7pm for it.

SL to win hands down tomorrow.

Why you ask?
Pakis made the ODI final against the Aussie and got bombed out for 120 odd, which was chased down in like 15 overs.
Pakis made the T20 final last time around and had the game by the scruff of the neck while chasing, then threw it away with a few balls remaining.

Thats what most of the people was saying before the semi final also,
but pak made it.
If you compare pak and chokers you can do the math.
Any how sl or pak does not matter, cup gonna stay where it belongs;)

I'll try Killa;)

8 overs, 80 runs with 7 wickets.

The liklihood was always that they will have wickets in hand. Isn't this the reason that the batsman who isn't set should be throwing his bat?

What actually happenned...I have pointed this out numerous times now, but you don't seem to note.

Kallis (the set batsman, anchor whatever) batted at 138 strike rate in the partnership and Duminy at 80.

Why can't you see that of all the players in SA team Kallis is the only one that did his job. Not only that he outperformed the entire rest of batsmen combined in both run rate and total in both the England and Pakistan games, and his run rate was better than required in both games.

...and he outperformed every batsman bar Dilshan in the whole competition.

When are you going to start the campaign to build the guy a bloody statue?
:D

LOL ozzie i like arguing with you dude, no look i know he did well i just hoped between him and duminy one would have taken the option to hit more runs sooner, but yea maybe blaming kallis is a bit harsh on my behalf, i just look at dilshan innings and think he never waited for people to bat around him, he said to himself ok i need to get these runs because nobody else looks capable and he did, he said fine i will do the smashing, i will ensure we get the runs needed to set a good total. Kallis is capable of tearing a bowling attack apart, he is big and powerful and can hit the ball a long way so i guess i will never understand why he cannot do a dilshan upfront and destroy an attack.

Yea i guess kallis and dilshan are very different, kallis is not a 90 runs off 57 delivery batsmen, so yea maybe i am being a bit harsh.

I think you're making progress killa. Remember that grieving is a process: denial -> anger -> bargaining -> depression that finally leads to acceptance.

With our help, you'll pull through this. :p

Kalis did well, we lost by a few runs because Afridi had the right spirit when he went into that game and not only got the extra runs needed but was made man of the match, our team went in with the attitude "same **, different day" and we lost, if we had Roelf in early he might have got things moving, he has that competitive spirit..
