No guarantee of first team football. ... he is wrong side of 30 and they might as well make something before he walks away on a free !!!

Yes I knowTo say we can't compete with the likes of city and psg is fair.
But to say we can't afford anyone upwards of 20 is absurd.
The players you listed were all in the 17m - 20m bracket, this is where united have always speed with the odd signing off around 30m when they feel the need; Berba, Rooney, Ferdinand, Verona being examples.
United have never spent over extravagantly, so them not doing that now is not a sign of them crumbling financially, other things maybe but the pattern inn signings haven't changed much IMO.
Bout to long ago the club record was broken while having the strain of debt and interest repayments.
Ferguson is the one deciding, if he felt he needed a 60m player he could have afforded it (instead of 3 20m players) but that's not the way he spends money.
Edit: just to be clear I'm agreeing with you dbecks.

Yes I knowand I agree with your additions
They so desperately want to believe that we on the down in whatever way they can falsify - Our league position countered the "decline in quality" argument so they go back to the "Financial" :wtf:
I ****ing hate the SpanishJust breathe on them and they go flying!
Anyone wanna bet how much Athletic Bilbao paid that ref? Anyway was still a horrible performance. Fergie messed up with his team selection yet again :/
Gotta give it to the Spanish, experts at diving.
Guess we can just focus on title no. 20 then!
Sorry but this is just sour grapes in the extreme. We were well and truly beaten in both games and I can't think of a single contentious decision that went against us. I also thought Athletic's players were good sports so I'm not sure what diving and play-acting you saw.

excuses much ?
For a team that is lagging well behind Madrid and Barca, Utd should have beaten them.
Guess the Europa is much harder to win than what Fergie and fellow Mancs thought....
Its a European competition FFS, thou 2nd tier, Fergie should have given the opposition more respect and tactically he fscked up.
