Nani our for start of season with dislocated shoulder. Vidic, Nevill G and We Brown also unlikely to be fit in time for next weekend. Good job we start with Birmingham, Burley and Wigan, then :)

The England goalkeeping crisis has started even before the season. Ben Foster's regular billing as the Three Lions' World Cup keeper owes most to hope and the inadequacies of the other contenders and it bodes worryingly that he flopped at Wembley. His errors featured in both Chelsea goals and nothing he did provided reassurance for either club or country.

So true :(

Sir Alex not worried by Foster's poor display

Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Ben Foster after the Manchester United goalkeeper's shaky display against Chelsea in the Charity Shield.

The 26-year-old is set for an extended run in the side after Edwin van der Sar's injury and endured a difficult afternoon at Wembley.

Foster's kicking looked suspect and he could have done better for both of Chelsea's goals, as Carlo Ancelotti's side ran out winners on penalties.

But Ferguson insists he has "no worries" over Foster's capabilities. "Knowing Ben and the ability which he has, he should have done better with the second goal,'' said the United boss.

Yes, and referees have got their performances off to a good start as well. Respect has to be earned. That was a poor display from the ref from start to finish.

Manchester United winger Nani is confident he can make a quick recovery after dislocating his shoulder against Chelsea in the Community Shield.

Nani was expected to miss the start of the new Premier League season after suffering the injury during the second half of Sunday's contentious encounter at Wembley.

The Portugal international was hurt as he fell to the ground following a challenge by John Terry after he had earlier fired United ahead.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson suggested Nani could face several weeks on the sidelines and he is due to undergo a scan on Monday.

However, Nani feels he could be involved in Portugal's friendly in Liechtenstein on Wednesday after linking up with his national team.

"I think I can recover in time," said Nani. "We'll see how it turns out."

He added: "It's painful and it needs treatment.

"It's not a very serious injury. I need to take care of it and I expect to get better in the coming days."http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11667_5483393,00.html

Agreed.

Hopefully Michael Jackson's lovechild will "break out" of the closet this year...
