I resolved myself to the fact that today's game was lost. So I was quite looking forward to a proper fight towards the end of the game. Aguero nearly didn't disappoint. Alas...

Agreed. Another poor showing. Jones was lucky to score. No chances created. Really makes me worried for the ruin in with Chelsea, Arsenal and Swansea to play.

Giggs was poor. Would have played Nani instead. Bringing on Kagawa with 2 mins to play is just retarded.

I'm still not feeling confident even with a 12 point gap.

Wish SAF would just play Chicha. Let RvP rest, and give Hernandez gametime. The amount of goals that dude scores, ignoring him this much is silly.

Agree start with Hernandez, Kagawa, Rooney, Carrick, Jones/Ando, Cleverley... where was Vida???

Not fit enough...
who else here agrees with me that Welbeck is a useless talentless striker???? Why the **** does he keep getting the nod over kagawa or hernandez???? He brings 0 creativity to the team cant shoot to save his life... but can tackle... yay

I like him. He's there to help the strikers score and he works his ass off. I agree that he should be working on his goalscoring, but he's young still.

He's not taking the place of either Kagawa or Hernandez. He plays on the wings which immediately rules out Chicha, and he tracks back a lot, which isn't why we bought Kagawa, whose best position isn't on the wing either.

I predicted a 0-2 defeat.

This side is horrible right now. Completely void of any spark. To be honest this season has been a let down. After playing sensational football and with a shot at the treble, they've turned out toothless down the stretch and I wouldn't be surprised if they limp home to the title instead of comfortably sealing it.

And Welbeck the prick, pass the damn ball. He had Rooney steaming off down the outside, unmarked, and numbnuts decides to take it inside and take on 3 defenders. If he isn't sending his shot into orbit he's trying to take on everyone. And what is with RVP and those looping corners? What is the point? There is no pace on them so what are they supposed to do with them? Whip the damn ball in.

Not sure why we are not going with the normal 4-4-2 = Two natural wingers and two natural MF's

Giggs with Carrick, Wellbeck on the wing..wtf?!?!...while you have Valencia, Nani, Cleverly and Ando all sitting on the bench?????

wrong team selection

wtf why not play clevz and kagawa

welbeck cannot cover like valencia ..yet valencia is so schit

young had very little

RvP played well ...rooney was brilliant with his movement as usual

aguero finish was good ..his build up was a schit united defence

7 games 10 points needed you guys are such drama queens.

This.

Well I'm sorry that being the first team to win 25 of the first 30 games in a season and possibly going for the all time points record is such a let down for you. Idiot. Every other club in the league would be dying to be in your position.

Bloody hell man. Get a grip.

Do not call me an idiot. I am more than welcome to have my own opinion, regardless if you disagree.

I am happy if you think a top drawer season petering out is awesome. I however do not. So much promise only to see it fizzle out.

EDIT: And it is not just about a points tally. Granted the Champions League exit was controversial but the nature of their FA Cup exit and their last 3 outings in the league have been a far cry from what they were doing earlier on. I know no club can maintain constant perfection and a blip is common, but this is basically a month long slump that has seen them go from cruising the league and in line for 2 other cups to now looking a little shaky with only the league to play for. I can imagine that Fergie himself would be a little disappointed and frustrated at how things have turned out.

And he is indeed a little disappointed;

Ferguson admits to season regrets

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted this will be a season tinged with regret for Manchester United, even if they go on to win the Premier League.

With a 15-point advantage over Monday's Old Trafford visitors Manchester City and only eight games of the campaign remaining, it seems only a matter of time before United are crowned champions for a record 20th time.

However, Monday's FA Cup defeat at Chelsea and the Champions League exit to Real Madrid has robbed United of a multi-silverware haul. "How do we analyse this season - is it one of regret or celebration?" he told United Review. "For me it is something of the proverbial curate's egg, part bad but with some great redeeming features."

Sir Alex added: "The biggest disappointment was failing to get past Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Normally if we fall behind we can find another gear and get back on track, but on this occasion we didn't manage it.

"That goes down as a great regret in my book, especially with such a great prize there for the taking with a semi-final against Manchester City beckoning.

"Some might think that going out of the Champions League would have been my biggest regret, but there was a reason, one that was out of our control and has to be put down to experience."

Exactly my sentiment. Where's the drive? Where's the passion? And the main reason RVP is not scoring is because he is getting very little service or chances compared to earlier in the season.

The midfield last night was bleak.. Carrick was ok, but was very deep all the time.

But will still be ecstatic if we win our 20th title :)

Don't get me wrong, the 20th title will be welcome, but I can't stop thinking that it could have been more. At one point you'd have been hard pressed to choose between Barcelona, Bayern Munich and United for European team of the season, but now United just look flat, huffing and puffing home.

I'd say it is 50/50 on RVP. It is true that the midfield is not controlling the ball like it used to and thus RVP is not receiving a steady supply, but on the other hand when RVP does get in front of goal he is nowhere near as clinical as he was. He is snatching at chances. I think like the team he's just in a slump.

RvP isn't scoring because he isn't burying the chances that he is getting. His shots are hardly on target any more.

Carrick was ok, but was very deep all the time.

Carrick had to sit deep because as usual Giggs was always careless with possession, meaning Carrick had to cover the back 4 repeatedly.

Yes - that's exactly why. Not sure why this lesson has not been learnt yet. Carrick needs an energetic partner as well although last night night I was hoping Scholes would magically appear on the bench fully fit...

I think Carrick has been playing very well of late and last night he missed a Cleverly next to him. Why did SAF play Wellbeck and Giggs in that formation when you have Cleverly, Kagawa, Ando, Nani and Valencia on the bench - all natural positions for them yet we go with the unnatural and dont even make subs with time to spare???
