Interesting. And oddly similar to the United situation- taken a team that plays with flair and attacking prowess, and has made them rather abysmal.

I have not watched every United game this season (or even most) but the general view that I have from those that do, is that United are playing very negative football?

Not negative necessarily, just very ineffective.

Negative hoof ball with loads of crosses, yes.

Not negative necessarily, just very ineffective.

When we are one goal up its negative, it was very negative against Chelsea at home.

Moyes should rather try and impose his own footballing style (or philosophy as some would say) and stop trying to mimic or continue SAF's legacy. I'm starting to think that is his biggest problem. He made Everton a hard team to beat. Yes, the football wasn't necessarily entertaining or pretty but it was very effective. Clearly trying to be SAF mark II while maintaining the "Utd Way" of playing football isn't working.

Actually no, scrap that idea, Moyes should just carry on as is  :D

#MoyesIn

Actually I disagree... he has stamped his authority on this United team... pushing a higher line with Vidic, Smalling, Evra and Rafael along with Carrick attacking more instead of being a CDM... Leaves United open to a fast pace counter attack.

The game against Fulham showed when Rafael and Evra pushes up high, we have Carrick and Fletcher also pushing up. This leaves huge gaps in defence... Carrick is too slow in retreating and leaves Vidic - who is slow - exposed.
Moye's tactics of crossing the ball into an area with no one there highlights his failure at coaching this team.

Serious question: what does Ashley Young bring to this team? I can't believe he still plays as often.

What is Moyes' footballing style? Quick passing, possession, counter-attacking?

It's 70's style. Hoof the ball upfield or into the box. Completely outdated.

Ok but it's not really an Everton shaped version of his authority he's stamping is it? Well, not from what I remember of his Everton reign and the times I've watched Man U this season...

I think he's still working on it :D

I've noticed that too. But why Carrick? While he is more defense inclined, Kagawa has better skill and pace.

Cleverley: People don't appreciate my 'Spanish style'
Cleverley has been singled out as one of United's biggest underperformers during a disappointing season under new manager David Moyes.

Cleverley's short passing style has come under particular scrutiny, but the England international feels the way he plays is being undermined for cultural reasons.

"I watch Spanish football a lot. If they pass the ball sideways but keep possession, the fans clap them," he told the Daily Mirror.

"Their attitude is that as long as you have got the ball, the other team can’t hurt you.

"I know the mentality is different here and that is what makes our game the best in the world because it is so intense.

"But sometimes I have got to not listen and play my game because I feel I’m doing the best thing for the team."

Cleverley has been in and out of the United side all season and admitted that criticisms of his performances have got to him at times.

"When I first started getting singled out, it stung, yeah but it’s something you have got to learn to take when the team is not doing well," he said.

"My job goes under the radar at times. I am not a player who’s going to beat three or four people and stick it in the top corner or go round tackling people like Roy Keane

"I would like the fans on my side and it hurts a little bit when you have grown up at the club and love the club every bit as much as the supporters.

"I feel I’ve been made a scapegoat a little bit. A few people in the media certainly seem to have a perception of me not doing much in the team.

:D

He has a very small point, but the difference is that Spanish players also pass forward occasionally and draw in players to create space for the players in front. A lot of them also manage to dribble successfully now and then.

Interview was with Oliver Holt, who writes for The Mirror. So I assume it's original source is the Mirror.

Yup and if you read The Mirrors article and compare it, you can see certain things have been changed to push an agenda.

#mufc must produce quality at Arsenal. Moyes: “We’re a top side & hopefully we’ll show that. We'll do everything to pick up the 3 points.”

Boss confident fortunes will change for #mufc: “We just need to keep going because our luck will change, there's no doubt about that.”

Moyes on the twists & turns this season: “Football does that sometimes. We've just got to try to make sure it doesn't happen too often.”

David Moyes hopes for 2nd win of the season vs @Arsenal: “We got a good result against them at Old Trafford & we'll try for the same again.

Hope, try and luck .... Moyes' favourite words.

Kags is pure silk at times.. Seems the team has failed him too often rather than the other way around.
