Nope, it wont run. You will need a java emulator and run the java client.

I hope they've put effort into this version, seriously, this damn thing crashes so much!

Mine works fine ;) Although I don't use it on Linux, but it's running fine on Vista Home Premium, no issues.

mxit or ubuntu? lol?

mxit on my windows machine crashes a shyt load, so i kinda figured the windows version would have to be stable before they even think about us poor ubuntu users.... my 2c anywayz

Edit: it still says application error thingy often on vista and xp

ya i tried on kubuntu and it doesn't do too well (and by that I mean it does nothing) :)

also curious just installed ubuntu now I am a noob with linux but wanna get to know it well like the back of my hand but wanna get mxit working on it has anyone come right with that yet

Linux and Mxit:eek:

It would appear Linux is in fact for everyone these days...

Pidgin should work on all Ubuntu. Have you installed Pidgin from the Software Center, which would be the easiest way also.

From the Add contact in Pidgin, there is a dropdown list, where you just select Mxit and then you just type in your details (your number with the 27 in the place of the nul).

Hope that helps.

Works here... Mint 9 64bit :)

And theres no need for the international dialing code.. Just enter your cell number normally ....

Pidgin has mxit protocol built in.

Use that.

The empathy mxit doesn't work. I have reported a bug for it.

Mine doesn't... I tried updating it, but the pidgin-ppa file doesn't want to update due to some exit string returning a value of 1.
I've un-installed pidgin and re-installed it. And even if I try to update it via Console, (sudu apt-get install pidgin), the same error appears.
