Official PS3 Discussion/News Thread - No bashing!!

After some deliberation between a BD player or a PS3 I am going with PS3.

What should I expect to pay for a 120gb slim these days, any specials around?
 
Normal pricing is R3799. Anything better than that is a good deal, remember that Game will beat any other advertised price by 10% of the DIFFERENCE but there are conditions.
 
Does anyone know where I can download a PS3(250 GB) manual in English...? My console came with manuls but none of them are in English.

does anyone know when GT5 ,the full game will actuall come out?...from what i see its sure to be THE racing game....anybody here of a way to backup ps3 games yet?..i know the ps3 has been hacked and all, but I really need to make some backups...all my games are getting damaged and scratched
 
Everytime I check the release date it says TBA ,2010 and it's said that for like the last 10 years ,lol.
But seriously its been like that since 2008 or 2007?...2007 TBA, then came 2008 ,oh and guess what TBA, and finally 2009 came (and went) and FINALLY..
it said TBA ...AGAIN...
 
Was supposed to be august last year, then march this year, now we hear august/sept '10. My guess is they either adding 3D effects or programming it for the motion controller.
I feel they should rather have launched the basic arcade version, and added the additional categories like WRC and Nascar or whatever else should've been offered as purchasable updates online or via update disc.
Have to admit that GT5 is the main reason for purchasing my PS3.
 
Does anyone know if the "refurb" Ps3's at Game are really "refurbished" Ie, old broken/salvaged consoles given a new lease on life, or are they originla unsold units dusted off?
 
When they talk about a "refurbished unit", it means the console has been repaired and checked and meets Sonys QC standard.
If your new unit had to go in for repairs, chances are you will recieve a refurbished unit back.
its the way the world is going, lots of companies do it. Apple does it too.
if your iphone breaks, you will get a refurbished replacement.
it doesnt sit well at first, but once you get used to it, and can buy into the fact that each part of the unit is checked to a certain standard, it does make sense, and also gives you great service. ie, you dont have to wait for weeks for your unit to be fixed.
 
I myself want to get into refurbishing consoles. Otherwise throw away consoles giving them a new lease on life!
 
I am like a week behind in the greatest PS3 news ever. I just found out there is a USB Hack to play backedup games.
How awesome is that? So who's going to hack their PS3?
