Surely 74 is not equal to 60 but argues the point of "more equally"

Yes, lets discuss my use of the word equal instead of the point I'm trying to make.

The reason I said equal is that each club gets an equal portion and then a small portion is paid out according to were you finished and how many televised games you had. That is why there ends up being difference.

Doesn't take away from the fact the both Real and Barca rakes in more that 4 times what their nearest rival gets. Sorry, 3.6875 time more.

Basically equal. In 2014 Liverpool got 74mil & Cardiff got 60mil. In the same year Real Madrid got 118mil and Granada got 14mil.

Edit: Atletico got 32mil.

I don't disagree with your point at all, but there is still a difference based on performance. That's all I meant, because I believe that it does act as an excellent enough incentive to make a difference. La Liga clubs have to negotiate on their own- and performance may not be enough to get you a larger share of the pie.

Was a tough one tonight, wasn't expecting that lack of control during the 1st half. The most important thing was the 3 points and we got that. I'm glad Ancelotti changed the system at half time and didn't wait till the 70th min like he does sometimes.

I felt our guys played well in general, but were just giving the ball away too cheaply, especially in the 1st half. Isco was also a bit rusty when he came on, his misplaced passes were a bit frustrating to watch. Modric put in a solid shift, even more impressive when you factor in that he's coming back from a pretty serious injury. Was also surprised to see Bale on for the full match, read he was possibly dealing with a season ending injury after the match on the weekend, not sure how accurate that report was.

I'm somewhat happy that a few of our key players (Ronaldo/Kroos) are suspended for the weekend. This way they will get a proper rest before the CL match in a week against Athletico. We're at home and our squad has enough depth to handle them being absent for the match Eibar.

The only worrying thing is how well Barca is playing. They don't look like they'll be dropping points easily. Hopefully they''ll rest some key players on the weekend ahead of the PSG clash and scrape a draw.

It's important for Madrid to keep the pressure on Barca. Barca are in a great position because they did exactly that, and the pressure eventually told.

Also, well done to Ronaldo on his 300th goal for Madrid. Amazing record.

Congrats to CR7. His dip in form was probably due to his breakup with Irina Shayk.

Now he's in pure beast mode. It seems like taking fewer games per 100 goals for Madrid.

Not only that, but look at the opponents he has scored most against:

Sevilla: 16 goals
Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Getafe: 15 goals

I thought that he went missing in the big games? ;)

From reddit:

Cristiano Ronaldo could now play 7 more seasons, or 360 games more for Real Madrid without scoring a single goal, and he would still have a better goals-to-games ratio then Real Madrid legend Raúl

From the comments:

I heard this stat yesterday and was so amazed so I looked it up and they are wrong - it's actually 400 games, as far as I can work out.

Raul scored 323 in 741 games - a ratio of 0.436.

Ronaldo has scored 300 goals in 288 games - a ratio of 1.042

300/0.436 = 688. He's played 288 already, so conveniently, that would be another 400 games without scoring to match Raul.

He currently plays ~50 games a year for Real, so that's 8 seasons and until he's 38.

To be honest, it's games like the Granada one that again prove how La Liga as a league lags behind the likes of the EPL. People may believe that Real Madrid and Barca would dominate other leagues (and they very well might), but the rest of the league is simply not up to scratch.
Then it's funny how the rest of the teams that are supposedly not up to scratch have always been dominant when they faced English teams.

Like who?
For example the last time English and Spanish opposition met in the Europa League Valencia beat Stoke home and away and the same year Athletic Bilbao beat Manchester United home and away. So it's not true that the La Liga non-elite teams are weaker than their Premier League counterparts.

It's fine to cherry pick, but don't make false statements. The actual last time a Spanish team faced an English team was when Atletico Madrid beat Chelsea. The point is, I could equally cherry-pick results between the two leagues, but that would be pointless- I compared the levels of the teams relative to their leagues.

Yeah, I didn't say that at all.

When you asked "like who?" you were looking for examples weren't you? So I gave you?

I said Europa League which is the competition where "the rest" of the leagues' teams come up against each other. La Liga non-elite teams' performances there against English and other leagues' teams prove there's nothing wrong with the league's levels. You said La Liga lags behind the EPL and I'm demonstrating how that is nonsense. So where's the false statement on my part? Atletico-Chelsea was yet another Spanish team that is not Barca or Madrid beating a Premier League elite team so thanks for bringing that up.

To avoid cherry-picking we could simply bring up a summary of all head to head clashes between the two leagues in recent years or have a look at UEFA Coefficients. You said La Liga lags behind the premier league so it is therefore important to bring up some head to head results. You brought up the comparison of the two competitions. If the rest of the league's teams were not up to scratch English teams would dominate them in Europa league competition as you claim they lag behind compared to the EPL's lower rung, but the opposite has happened when they met head to head...like an Athletic Bilbao defeating Manchester United home and away. The big scores you see like the Granada one are more an indication of Barca and Madrid's superiority than a reflection of the weakness of the other teams or the league in general.

Decent game today, second half was a bit boring, but glad we kept a clean sheet. Luckily no injuries to key players.

Pressure now on Barca to perform tonight, they've got a tough game against Sevilla. Athleico also facing Malaga currently, so hopefully they'll be worn out come Tuesday.

Whoooooo!!!!!

And Sevilla equalize!!!

6 min to go! Come'on guys!

Spanish La Liga
