Lambie plays much better rugby on 10, he also lacks the ability to complete 'most' tackles on 15. I don't have an issue with the selected Springbok team, the only two surprises are Paige and M. Steyn. They picked Kolisi above Oupa, good, but now we don't have a consistent ball chaser like Brüssow.

Oh, and make Vermeulen captain. Also leave JdV in the corner, between him and Victor I will pick the lock. <- my opinion.

Unbelievable

Could not have said it better: "Ons met n scrapyard en ongevalle afdeling van plaaslike hospitaal na wereld beker"..basically sums up the Rugby World Cup Squad..Not a hope in hell.

It is an ok team. Some really good talent mixed with a few real headscratchers.

A few too many people who haven't played in a bok jersey for too long and JdV and Matfield are definitely sentiment picks.

The ommission of Brussouw (I can never spell that.) is probably biggest.

Why is everyone so upset about Brussouw's omission? How many times did he make Heinekes team in the last 4 years? Heineke doesn't like him for some reason. We literally had to have no other options for him to pick Brussouw.

I don't even know who this Paige person is, so that is really suspicious.

Heineke is probably going to fall back to the Zane and Morne combo as well, hoping that safe rugby will see us through. Mind you, when those two play together Heineke had an 80% win record. Playing Pollard and Willie looked really dangerous, but it really affected Heineke's win ratio really badly.

I'm not upset about Brussouw's omission. We have always had an abundance of world class loose forwards. We are leaving behind world class guys like Jaco Kriel, Brussouw, Whiteley and many more other forwards. But there are only 31 spots unfortunately.

Was always going to be the most difficult part to select only a handful of loosies and Meyer was always going to go with the bigger ball carriers. Especially since he sees Bismarck as a fetcher too.

My biggest concern.
He picked most players as utility players, meaning they can cover more than 1 position, instead of being specialists in their position. Which is a big fail in my opinion. This is not a stretched out SuperRugby competition where depth will be tested to the extreme. It is a maximum of 7 matches where each match is a must win situation. You need your best players in each position match after match. When injury strikes you need the second best, not some guy who once was experimented on at wing.
No time to play De Allende at wing just because he has played there before. No time to play Ruan Pienaar at fullback, Willie on the wing, Brits at flank or props on the other side of the scrum.

So my guess is his thought process went something like this.

Pollard - Flyhalf/Centre
Steyn - Flyhalf/Centre
Lambie - Flyhalf/Fullback
Le Roux - Fullback/Wing
Kirchner - Fullback/Centre
Pienaar - Scrumhalf/Flyhalf/Centre/Even fullback
Kriel - Centre/Fullback/Wing
De Allende - Centre/Wing
De Villiers - Centre/Emergency Room

Louw - Cover both sides of the scrum
Alberts - Flank/8th man/Lock
Burger - Flank/8th man
PS du Toit - Flank/Lock
Schalk Brits - Hooker/Flank
Nyakane - Can play both sides of scrum
Oosthuizen - Can play both sides of scrum

In his mind he is picking closer to 50 players instead of 31. In my mind he is making a big mistake.

Lets hope it works out for him (us?)

Anyway. My blood is green. All players have my support. Yes, even Kirchner. I don't think he is a rubbish player at all. His time at Leinster might just be invaluable for us when the Northern Hemisphere conditions start to take its toll.

De Villiers - Centre/Emergency Room

:D

*oes!!

I don't think he's picked players purely based on their versatility. It just happens to be the case with a lot of the players, but can't that be said about a lot of other squads/players?

If he were picking on versatility he should have included Hougaard and FS?
.
Also none of these players are likely to start a game playing at their 'other' position. Sometimes circumstances dictate and I don't think it's a negative.

As much as I think we have a decent team. We don't have the players needed to win the RWC.

I can't see us winning by any stretch of the imagination. Quota players kept out players we needed to win.
