Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

Im getting mine this week:) Only place i can find the Note in Durban is at Umhlanga MTN branch. Altho they do stock it, they are out of stock at the moment so im waiting for them to come in. Spent saturday playing on my gf's SII and galaxy tab 10.1, then went and used the Note at samsung in Gateway. It seems the perfect balance between the 2, and shes actually jealous that she doesnt have an S-pen for her Tab. I hope MTN is still giving away the leather covers with it.

Has anyone had any problem with the Note chowing data, i know the SII has had a problem with that for some people.

Not sure what you're referring to, all Android phones use a lot of data. Did the S2 have some particular problem? Everything seems on par with my S1. Note that on the first day the phone will use a lot of data to sync with your google accounts.

I saw a demo/mock-up version at a Vodacom store yesterday..... my lordy, it's MAHOOOOOSIVE!!

Even bigger than I expected it to be. Going to be getting many "are you happy to see me?" comments with that thing in your pocket!

No stock at either of the places I tried, but here are the Dec deals I could trace:

MTN
R399 on Anytime R200

Cell C
R379 on BusinessChat standard
Includes no free minutes, but 500Mb data

Virgin
R320 on Classic 100
R100 airtime / data @ 60c/Mb

Right, so I need to get hold of one of those replicas that all the Vodashops have of the Note at the moment (as in buy). Need to try it out for a week or two, size-wise.

Anyone have any info on where I can buy one? Any Samsung reps lurking out there......?

Let me know if you have any contacts.
Thanks

Okay, I bought one of the display units. Getting used to the size. VERY nice!!

Just do it. I bought the Note and sold my SGS2.
The first week I got annoyed a bit with the size as I had gotten used to single handed operation and swyping with my SGS2. Note is to big to do that - easily.
I have gotten used to it now and love it. I could not change to anything else.

Bought mine from the Samsung shop at Vodaworld.

Sho, you must have big hands Mike! :) I've got long fingers but using the S2 with one hand is difficult for me, even swyping. Can be done of course but I think the Note would be too much hassle.

Anyone knows what is the best deal out there on the note? Do you think will drop in price in 3 or so weeks? (shortly after new year)

MTN's offer of R200 airtime for R399, but Cell C's offer with 500mb is also good. I suspect the Note will only drop in February or March when the new phones get announced. Compare MTN's contract deal with their other phones and it doesn't look like it will drop by much.

A huge step up from my Desire. This phone is perfect.

Would like to know if we will be getting the white version.

What I'd like to know is, where the heck are all the owners?

Maybe it is still too pricey for most. You are the only one that can afford it! lol

Will be getting mine in three months when my contract is up.

It is quite expensive, that's why I got it on a contract ;) I just thought there'd be quite a few of us also getting it on contract.

Oh wow, a rare sighting of a Note owner :D

What kind of battery life do you get?

Compared to my SGS2 it blows. I can however get through a day of moderate use (wifi/data on 24/7, whatsapp/email/gtalk sync on etc). I use my phone phone a bit too.

It came off charge at 07H45 and right now I am at 45%. Not bad, but my SGS2 was at 70% only at this time.

Overall, I love the device. Took a little bit to get used to the size, but now that I am used to it I would not trade it for anything.
