Official Super Rugby 2014 Thread

I am confused can someone please explain the laws on: Playing a player in the air, entering from the side and the daylight rule. Apparently my view on it is not correct?
 
I see this weekend will be a tough one if you play Superbru, with the chiefs taking on the Sader, the bulls the cheetahs and the reds and brumbies battling it out.

Last weekends game showed us a couple of things:

Cheetahs vs Lions
The Cheetahs were slow of the mark
The Lions scrum looks decent
Goosen is a glass figure
Missing penalties will end up costing you in the majority of games.

Sharks vs Bulls
The Sharks look a lot more professional right from the start than last year
The Sharks have worked on their line outs
The Sharks' bench is very capable.
The Bulls linking three (8,9,10) was poor and the bulls will have a very long season ahead if something does not change.
The Bulls will stick to their kicking game plan, although the sharks kicked twice more than the bulls in last weekends game.
It shows again that aimless kicking will cost you dearly as it is simply giving away possesion, but if it is done correctly it can be worth solid gold.
 
Bulls linking three is even more important if you consider how well the pack performed. If they were firing too on the day, the Sharks would have had a more torrid time.

Agree. Why play players that had almost 10 months ago any game time and thinking that 1 warm up game will be enough to get rid of the rust. Bench them and play the youngsters who wants to show that they need to be there rather than old has-beens that talks a big game but doesnt mean anything on the field.

Marcell Coetzee ruled the poaching game and we saw how badly Jono Ross was adapted to counter Coetzee....

If Someone like Steggman was selected I think the bulls would have been much better equipped.

To be fair, Ross hasn't had much experience in Super Rugby, and Mallett was pretty clear in that he doesn't think he should play there. I think Coetzee is very feisty, as well.

I am not bashing Ross, I am bashing the coaching team as they should have known better. I think Ross could be a fair no 7 flanker if he does not have to do the fetching.

Yep, I know. Just expanding a bit. :)

Really finding the 'Saders/Chiefs clash a difficult one to call. The knights are always a class act, but against defending champs...
 
Spies already injured.

Out of this weekend's game against the Cheetahs with an elbow injury. Only they know where he picked it up as I can't remember seeing him on the field.

And yes the Saders start slow mostly and the Chiefs are current champs :( Hardest pick this weekend imo.

So wish Arno Botha was not injured then he could take the no 8 slot.
