Pollard in amputation fright

Cape Town - Bulls flyhalf Handre Pollard was close to having his arm amputated after complications with his surgery.

The Springbok star decided to have his shoulder injury taken care of while still being sidelined with a knee problem.

But the 22-year-old had to spend an extra five weeks in hospital after his shoulder became badly infected after the surgery, so much so that the doctors told him he may have to have his arm removed.

I guess this was around the time when near the entire Bulls team went to visit him in hospital.

Lions snap up Bulls lock duo http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/lions-snap-up-bulls-lock-duo-20160714

According to the supersport.com website, the Lions have confirmed they have acquired the services of Bulls lock Marvin Orie, who has been a regular in the Bulls Super Rugby set-up this year, and completed a move that almost happened two years ago when the Bulls convinced Orie to stay.

The Lions have also snapped up SA Schools A side lock PJ Steenkamp, with the Garsfontein lock set to make the move to Ellis Park at the end of his school career.

How many more tries for those dirty Sunwolves through blocking I wonder. Rasta being lekker one eyed in that respect and them not giving daylight in the tackle.

This isn't a great performance by Sharks. Kudos to the 'Wolves for keeping themselves in it.

Wow the Sharks are continuing their horror show. Going to be absolute humiliation next week (if they manage to actually win this game).

The Sharks had some serious communication issues… Well played by die Sunwolves, now they need to get a squad and work on their lines. Top League is 6 weeks away so these guys will have little time to rest.

Wie het in Paea se pap gepis? The guy picked up his game good today.

So I'm in two minds here, not helped in any part by this fine whisky ......

Did we 'go out for a bash around with different players' as part of a just need to win and keep fresh for playoffs?
or
Is Gold really that bad that everyone plays gives a toss rugby?

I'm seriously frustrated and even have a small part of me wishing we lost so ground swell could accelerate to get that clown Gold and his cronies and certain 'players' gone :/

even saying that though - the Sunwolves are shyte players and with a better ref would have been badly pinged for all their foul play

Credible 4 tries for the Wolves. I am really surprised the Sharks still have a chance to go into the Q's. They'll be hoping the Brumbies have a 'mare tomorrow.

The Sunwolves has some interesting times ahead. As soon as Jamie Joseph ties up with the Highlanders season the ‘new’ Sunwolves signups will be made known. Noting that no current player has been signed to continue their duty with the Sunwolves.

Leitch, Tanaka and Matsushima are rumoured to be on the list. Many Panasonic Wild Knights on the list, hoping to see Amanaki being made available by NTT and that Robbie Deans will take the Sunwolves coaching role so that Joseph may attend to the JRFU and provide a cycle through the Top League and universities to the Brave Blossoms/Sunwolves.

They have shown that they did not need an Tusi Pisi, though Pisi had played a leadership role to show the know-hows around the Super Rugby level. Yu Tamaru ended up well in the general's boots, also had a good closure to the competition as the captain.

Quirk and Carpenter has made it known that they are staying with the JRFU, Carpenter has been signed with Suntory and Quirk is apparently struggling to get into a top-tier Top League team due to his late commitment. I have not read anything on Riaan… Do expect less islanders in the team, Paea will stay as he is essentially a Japanese-Tongan, whether Moli will stay I don’t know as he will need to sign up with a Top League team where space is limited. Tim Bond is in the balance, but I’m hoping that Fa'atiga Lemalu will stay as he made a big impact. The thing is, they need more Japanese and uncapped internationals in the squad, also a younger team.

At the end, it looks like the Top League is willing to make their better players available. The Sunwolves should have the depth entering next year, under Deans they will be something. Should it not be Deans I’m hoping that Stonehouse will take the opportunity.

Hammett did good work at the end with limited resources, sorry to see him go.

According to the media that was the plan. Also, Lambie has to be included within the match day squad next week to be eligible to continue with the Super Rugby season in the case that the Sharks are able to pull a victory next weekend.

The Sharks bureaucracy… though I do think that SA rugby needs more creativity, Gary Gold is not creative.
