Yeah, I agree that Elton should had been rested by the 60th mark. I think that he will be okay, as long as his eye is not damaged.

Been an absolute revelation in a year where all our teams, for the most part, have dished up complete and utter crap. Just amazing! They playing highly entertaining rugby of the highest quality and winning too. A brand of rugby New Zealanders would be proud off, a brand of rugby foreign to South African teams other than perhaps Malletts Boks.

The Hurricanes are poised to win their first Super Rugby title, but they and influential playmaker TJ Perenara might be breathing a sigh of relief the halfback wasn't cited for foul play during their 25-9 semifinal victory over the Chiefs last night.

If so, Perenara might have missed next Saturday's final against the Lions in Wellington, and possibly some or all of the Rugby Championship.

The incident, caught on Sky's match footage, but not replayed, occurred in the 57th minute in front of the Hurricanes' posts following a ruck clean out by Chiefs flanker and co-captain Sam Cane.

Really high time that matches get looked at after the fact by someone and action taken against these types of things. Too much gotten away with when it shouldn't.

While the Highlanders relied on a mostly two pronged attack, the Lions employed multiple weapons launched from a scrum that was a joy to behold.

The Lions scrum has perhaps not been given the credit it deserves and even the 5 wins on their own ball, and 2 tightheads against the Highlanders on Saturday does not do it justice. It rattled the visitors to their very core and gave the backs and loose forwards a license to thrill.

And thrill they did - via 103 carries, 17 clean breaks, 33 defenders beaten and a monster 675 meters with ball in hand. But while the Highlanders used Malakai Fekitoa and Waisake Naholo to spearhead their attack, the Lions spread the load nicely through nine major ball carriers.

During the Lions-Highlanders game the shock to me was seeing All Black-calibre players bent over and sucking air with 10-minutes still to play. And as Ben Smith conceded, altitude was no excuse. They were run off of their feet and one does not see that happen to a NZ side.
