Official Super Rugby Thread 2012

The competition gets far too big then - one of two things would have to happen:

Either the competition is extended, considering that adding 3 new teams results in up to 40 additional games, and then eats into the international portion of the year, or
The campaign is diluted even further by not having to play even more teams now. The scoring system will become even more of a shambles than it already is...

"Cape Town - SANZAR CEO Greg Peters says it's highly unlikely that the format of the Super Rugby tournament will be changed in the near future.

This means that the South African Rugby Union (SARU) can most likely forget about the possibility of six teams representing South Africa in next year's Super Rugby tournament.

The Southern Kings have been guaranteed a place in next year's tournament, which means one team would have to drop out.

This prompted SARU to try and convince SANZAR to expand the tournament."

I vote SA get the Kings in, Aus take a team from Japan (combined two strongest Japanese "provincial/club" teams"), and NZ get a Fiji/somoa/pacific island team going.

I vote that they make it 9 teams.
3 from each country.

9 turns it into a little tournament. I think they had the recipe right at Super 12 from the get-go...

+trillion...

This competition is turning into a farce. Home derbies are boring to watch unless they're your own, format with conferences makes it difficult to understand who qualifies and who does not, add to that the wild card concept!!! It's a load of BS!!

Now dilute the standard of the comp by adding more teams???

Administrators are milking it now...

What they should do is introduce an international, southern hemisphere second division competition like they have in football...

I hope the Blues destroy the Reds!

Bloody aussies don't deserve to be in the play offs!! It's supposed to be this way;

Stormers vs Chiefs semi final
Bulls vs Highlanders/Crusaders semi final

Then the final D:

Bloody aussies with their 22 point play off position.

I vote that they make it 9 teams.
3 from each country.

Problem is how are the three sides picked from each country?

@ Sand Man: The Rules are more complicated than need be imo, but it is to keep the Aussies up to speed.

@ DJ - Too true, the system could not handle 3 new teams... I was actually saying it more in jest though :D

The Blues are playing like schoolboys... pathetic school boys... 45 min in and the Blues still have not fixed their defensive back three, line outs, kick offs and a bunch of other things.

The Reds on the other hand are looking more and more like the champs of last season.

Can't believe so many people picked the Blues on Superbru. Good for me!

They have been so crap this year.

If the Blues fire Weepu and learn how to round off they would have won by 12 + tonight.

Weepu is fat and slow, tonight alone he was sacked at least three times with ball in had behind a ruck or scrum.

The blues shuld also start making the right calls wrt going for posts or the corner.

Saw some glimpses of the Blues team that should/could have been this year and it makes me very, very sad.

BLUES 11 vs REDS 23 (Full Time)

Margin Point for MickeyD and myself.

At least the Lions can claim plenty of injuries and no real superstars in their squad. Blues are full of quality players and not even half the injuries of other teams.

Like you say there Devill -

Don't know if it is Lam's fault, the players just being in a rut or just the fact that they can not seem to use the chances that they give/create themselves.

On paper the Blues should have been contending for the top spot in the NZ group, much like the bulls are trying to get to that top spot in the SA leg.

I just cant help but feel that Weepu should get the boot till he stops looking like Rickey Januarie / Os durant with hair and a tan....

BLUES 11 vs REDS 23 (Full Time)

Blues played like clowns ... and the last time I pick them  I would rather pick the Southern Kings against the Chiefs, than pick the Blues again
