Official Super Rugby Thread 2012

We looked last week and they were already sold out then :(

Good to see that the North / South rivalry is not dead.

I must be honest, I find the local derbies terribly boring. It's glorified Currie Cup. I want to see SA teams playing abroad... Not a fan of the new format at all...

They make way more money this way.

I'd also like to see more international teams at newlands.

They could also make the tournament about 5 rounds smaller.
But money again.

Local derbies = more ticket sales and TV viewers.

Also now they can have a NZ, Aus and SA team in the top three (as it is at the moment, the bulls would have been second only to the stormers in the old format).

Realistically it gives the "smaller" teams like the cheetahs a better chance at ending higher in the SA event, imo.

Why don't they put some of that money into training and retaining professional, full time match officials for all games in the S15? Tossers! I see Alistair Courtsey has already claimed "underdog" status. Maybe he thinks that will help them win. I don't!

My cousin and I wanted to fly down for this match but the lack of tickets and the costs involved have put paid to that idea.

I really wanted to see Wynand in pink.
Blondes always look great in pink.

Why not buy one of Wynand's new fabulous hair products?

This one for example makes you look completely pink, and better yet, fits snuggly into your vagina...

Made my picks early this week. Before I change my mind.

I skipped the Stormers vs Bulls one for now. Still undecided about that.

My insights:

Highlanders will kill Rebels
It goes without saying.

Hurricanes will, unfortunately, get the better of the Cheetahs
Despite the Cheetahs nearly upsetting the Crusaders, one must accept that the latter team is having a very lacklustre season and why bookies still even bother having narrow odds on them is beyond belief. 'Canes are running with the game and have their eye on the top NZ spot..

Chiefs over Waratahs
...which the Chiefs will retain. They're gonna make it this year, for sure - great guys, great team. The only non-ZA team I give a damn about.

Brumbies simply have to fall over to the Sharks
Brumbies have been mediocre at best and the sharks are determined to rack up points overseas, especially at the expense of teams that know how to make mistakes. They'll struggle, sure, but they should take it.

W Force to feel the Reds pain
Reds will be out to undo the damage to their reputation last weekend must have done and the Force will pay the price.

Lions over Crusaders
The Crusaders team is determined to lose and any team that let's them lose will get away with it. Lions have a point to prove, Crusaders are asleep at the wheel

Stormers go down to BULLS
(FAN BLINDNESS WARNING) Stormers have not been convincing in all of their victories and at times were either playing uninterested opposition or contenders that couldn't hold on. The BULLS won't let them make the same mistakes. I expect a major clash that should be fantastic for SA rugby. Watch Bekker make his mark though, no matter what the result is. He wants it and let's face it, he is the future Green 5

Lions... Win... No.

And it pains me to say it, but I reckon the Stormers are going down to the Bulls :'(

I have a feeling the Lions are going to put this one over the Crusaders.

Stormers v Bulls is going to be epic. Game of the weekend for me. Too close to call.

It may be the day that the Stormers start to get it right.

If it is I am sure it will be something to behold.

I think I will have the Bulls for the win (yes because I am a fan and in a 50/50 game like this why not :p)

This weekend like last, might see some (minor) upsets.

Is it just me or does this year's Super Rugby feel harder to call the winning team?
