Official Super Rugby Thread 2012

I saw nothing wrong with that bump-off. Can't really call it a hand-off, technically speaking. Was simply Bissie getting into the wrong position and being steam-rolled over...

did you watch the match played on friday????? it was brutal oh mein gott. those men meant business.

Saturday's game was far better, in every single aspect. Crusaders vs Chiefs just had a few moments where it looked like a fight was about to break out. Sharks vs Stormers however had far more intensity and big knocks in terms of rugby...

Just noticed, why the fscking hell do we have poephol Viljoen in teh team :wtf:

That Poephol made sure you were playing in the Stormers 22... He has a Frans Steyn sized boot.

Wonder if the Sharks will have stamina for the last 20mins?

Was wondering the same thing but with the start that they had it was always going to be hard for the stormers as they have had all the flair coached out of their backline. Defensive patterns even on attack is not going to help you when you are 10+ points down.

Stormers should look at perhaps changing their flyhalf Brok Harris and centres Andries Bekker and Etsebeth.

Hahahah, was thinking the same thing. Sharks forwards hunting as a pack and manhandling the Stormers forwards that did pitch up at the breakdown.

Bekker can be a effective second receiver but securing the ball is more important.

Where's stevieG?:D

Hahahah, StevieG / KOPITE is on papsak no. 18 today and will only be returning in a week's time.

Well played Sharks, last week you would have beaten 90% of the teams in the Super Rugby series, this weekend (barring the last 10-15mins) you would have beaten any team.

I really hope that you can bring the cup home (yes even if we will then not hear the end of it till 2021 :p:D).

Good news is that Lambie and Jordaan are both going with.

Fscking hard knock that Whitehead is out though :(

I am here. just disappointed that the Stormers never showed up on Saturday. They got everything behind them, home fans, rest, etc, but they forgot to do the business on the field. they underestimated the sharks thinking that there legs will come up short 20min from time. the real difference for me was that we never had a no. 8 to stop the momentum of the sharks. we still need to beef up our front row and we need a decent scrumhalf like sarel pretorius or basson. thats about the only change i would make. we really missed duane and schalk's experience. sharks deserved the victory as they wanted it more then the stormers. sharks will put up a good fight next week, but the chiefs will be too strong at home. chiefs will take it by 8-12 points.

format should really be changed. only the top 4 should play semis and then final. if the sharks win the trophy then it will feel like an anti-climax as a team that ended 6 win the trophy. they were the 6th best team this year, but because of loopholes and rules they cheated in a way to the final.

Then why bother with a semi final, let the top 2 teams play in the final, or better yet, let the log leaders win /sarcasm

Your post was good until the last 2 sentences now you just sound like a sore loser...

Sorry but no. If the Sharks win they more than deserve it as they have then travelled 3 times between Australia / NZ and SA in three weeks and bumped the favourites in all three their knock out matches.

What I was thinking. In fact, nothing on his post credits the winning team. Everything blamed on Stormers failure.

I agree. The Sharks "punishment" for finishing 6th is that they will travel alot. The top 2 spots gets rewarded with an additional week off and home ground advantage for semis and possible final. It is not the teams placed 5th and 6th fault if the top 2 cocks it up!!!!!

They were 6th because of that format. If not for that format, they woulda been 5th. That format elevated reds to an undeserved 3rd. Rather interestingly, the only way that would've affected the playoffs would be the Bulls in a deserved 4th facing the stormers.

Wonder where the sharks will plug in Lambie? I do not think anyone would like to take Freddy out of the no. 10 slot at the moment.

I also think Plumtree might actually "rest" some of the players like Bismarck, Alberts, etc by playing them from the bench.

Lambie can play 12/13

I am guessing Jordaan will play inside centre. Or maybe Jordaan will and Lambie will slot in at 12.... I am sure JP will stay at 13 after this weekends great run.

Sure Lambie could also slot into the no. 15 position easily enough.

Not sure what the game plan will be.....

Kicking away possession against the Chiefs will come back to haunt the Sharks.

Chiefs will probably deal with the high ball better than the Stormers did.

Its going to take an almighty effort by the Sharks to beat the Chiefs..... the guys have built up steam and are confident....

we just need a good ref on the day.
