Bulls lock Wilhelm Steenkamp has been cited for head-butting Sharks flyhalf Andrew 'Butch' James at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Steenkamp is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (a) Punching or Striking when he made contact with James in the 63rd minute at a ruck with his head.

Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play

The Citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Jannie Lubbe.

All SANZAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the judicial officer.

The Stormers are going to humiliate the flounulle at Newlands. I think we going to play an open running type game next week.

Possibly, because we're so kark we could just surprise ourselves...and we have nothing to lose. Your confidence is misplaced though, the Stormers are an embarrassment this season.

As much as all Stormers would LOVE to see it happen, I doubt it very very much. The way they played against the Kings did not show me much.

But here is me still hoping that they do and I will be there to witness it.

One thing I can confirm from somebody post earlier. The Bulls definitely have better cheerleaders than the Stormers :D

R2m keeps Willie at Cheetahs

Cape Town - The Cheetahs have been boosted by the announcement that Springbok Willie le Roux extended his contract at the franchise for a further two years.

French and Japanese clubs were hunting the services the fleet-footed back, but his recent inclusion as Springbok fullback made the decision to stay easier.

Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské confirmed the news to the Volskblad website.

"Willie has extended his contract as the Cheetahs for a further two years. He is an important player for us on attack and it's great news that he decided to sign with us," Drotské.

Le Roux, 23, will still represent Griquas in this year's Currie Cup before switching to Free State for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

He reportedly had to chose between the Cheetahs, Sharks and Western Province, and according to Volksblad's sources, a massive contract of about R2m was offered by Free State.

The news will be welcomed by Cheetahs fans, who are already celebrating after they qualified for the Super Rugby playoffs for the first time by beating beat the Blues 34-13 on Saturday.

If the bulls do not lift their game a lot from this weekend's the chances are very real. Although the stormers did not inspire great hope themselves this weekend.

Well by that reasoning the sharks also beat the bulls in the Super Rugby final. The kings beat the brumbies earlier this year, etc etc.

I will admit the bulls were not nearly good enough to take on an inform Crusaders team or Chiefs team... if we can at least beat an pretty good sharks team with a very poor performance... well that just says something doesn't it.

Jip Steenkamp has been sighted. I hope that if he is guilty he will get the ban he deserves. There is no place in Rugby for dirty pieces of scum.

I will give this game a 50/50 chance it can go either way. Bulls and Sharks take the cheerleading crown in the entire Super Rugby series.

I’m leaning towards the Stormers to win… Newlands will be packed.

If the Stormers pitch up for the game like against the cheetahs and the bulls have a slightly off weekend, the Stormers are in with a good chance.

I do hope thought that the bulls can take it and keep the no 1 spot on the log.
 
If the can teach Jantjies to catch the ball when it is passed to him, then the Stormers might stand a chance!
 
The way I see it after that headbutt, was that the game would have been sewn up. Red card for the foul play and a penalty to us. But, as is always teh case with the Bulls, it seems the officials are conveniently blind. Someone really really has to start looking into officials being dirty because as I said already, there is NO way that that headbutt was missed by the idiots on the field and that dirty bastid TMO.
 
It is the last weekend of the regular season. The following matches matter:

Crusaders v Hurricanes
Blues v Chiefs
Waratahs v Reds
Force v Brumbies
Stormers v Bulls

BOLD teams in playoffs. With the current log, only the Brumbies (with a bonus point win) and the Chiefs (with two points from any of a draw, both bonus points or a win) can take pole position ahead of the Bulls. Let's park that thought for a little while...

The Crusaders can still take the NZ conference by killing the 'canes and hoping that the Chiefs get nothing out of their battle with the blues. And because they will play before that game, expect them to aim for the sky. Expect, therefore, the 4th team to be a NZ team. It is nearly academic. 5th and 6th can be Reds and Cheetahs. The reds would have to lose without bonus points to the 'tahs (entirely possible) to finish 6th. Of course, that would mean an Australian play-off IF the brumbies remain in third (so that's a bit of a gamble) but a guaranteed playoff elsewhere (NZ) for fifth. Well, they'd know at the time.

The permutations are crazy. Back to top 3. I expect the Chiefs will take their game knowing what the stakes are - a pointless loss could see them hit 4th while a win at least gives them the conference and at worst 2nd overall, escaping any playoffs before the semis. If they hit and miss with the blues, then the bulls won't care about the newlands game. Again. And that sucks. So, for the sake of decent local competition, let's wish the chiefs well.

If the chiefs win without a bonus, the Bulls will only require a draw from Newlands. A bonus point for the chiefs means the bulls must win. Can they do it? All forms compared and considered, they should be able to.

I highly doubt the bulls are paying any officials off. It would have been a better conspiracy if various foul plays by other players from a lot of other provinces did not also get "missed" by officials.

Even in the game Boks vs Samoa the officials confirmed the foul play of the ball grabber and he was later given no punishment:

The case against So’oialo, who was cited for the transgression, was on Sunday dismissed by RFU judicial officer Jeff Blackett, who deemed the contact with Strauss’ testicles as “accidental”.

This with about three or four other incidents were not "seen" by the ref, TMO, touch judge or sighting commissioner.

I highly doubt Samoa has the $$$ to pay off officials. Officials miss things, they also interpret it their own way. Yes, I have also been angry with "blind" officials but at the end of the day, the game was lost by the sharks and they have only themselves to blame (missing chances at posts and not being able to round off).
 
The new champs will either be:

1. Brumbies (I sincerely hope not)
2. Previous Champs (They deserve the title again…)
3. Crusaders (My NZ team…)

Cannot see how the other will be able to push through, maybe Bulls… don’t know. Should the Cheetahs win, then we will hear their supporters go on about this like in FOREVER (it will always be the year 2013)… And we have enough Blue Bulls prophets already :p
