Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

any guys have an opinion on the camera? very tempted to pick this up, but worried with the lack of a flash and the 5MP camera :( I am moving from the Innov8, which has a flash and a 8MP camera! which I use as my camera replacement, so not really wanting to downgrade to a average cell camera :(

did some googling, but nothing seems to be conclusive, and very little "low-light" shots available on the web :(
 
Camera is the only real let down of the device, low light pictures are just black and unusable. Daylight pictures are blocky and look awful when you view them at full size. Rather wait for the desire hd if camera is that important to you.
 
thats quite disappointing :( I noticed that the samsung with higher specs are cheaper than the htcs!! right now with the new iphone packages the androids are looking a lot more expensive! :( also kinda want to have the swype input system which isn't available on the htcs :(

anyone know the expected date(s) for the Captivate?

ok...looks like the Facinate is the one with the flash

My daylight pics looks crystal clear.
Gotta agree with the low light pics, it sucks mainly because of the lack of flash

i've noticed that "low-light" is very different from phone to phone :P then again the 8mp that i currently use struggles at dusk photos anyways. lol most of the time i just use the flash as a torch :P
 
I find the LED as torch function on a phone very useful. It's the most used 'auxiliary' function on my 5800. Gonna miss it if I get the Galaxy :(

Panorama photo is also good.
Haven't tried taking pics at night yet, but I would expect them to be crappy.

yeah i loved my old SEs, but the only prob with the current SE's, is that its really only the x10 I would consider...and ii haven't really heard good things about it :(
 
Does the hsdpa 900 mean it will work with cell C's 4Gs network.

I can hardly wait, upgrading tomorrow...
 
Got my phone yesterday and it is totally awesome. Do that swipe thing come out as default or do i have to do something to get it. The battery also lasts longer than i thought it would. Finished charging yesterday at four and it is still above 80%

Thanks man. I am typing slower than on my bold but i think i might get to the same speed with just a little practice.
 
Hey -

Yep - sitting in the same position with a blackberry and galaxy... you do get used to the typing on the galaxy - i find it much quicker landscape not using swype. Also, I was using a Nokia E71 before the Galaxy and this is definitely faster :)
 
Ye, the spelling auto-correct is pretty accurate tho.
 
Hmm, the sgs has a bit of lag on when rendering a page. But i must say the browsing experience is better than my blackberry, except that it is a whole lot more expensive.

I cant wait for the firmware update as i heard it sorts out allot of the little problems.
