First off, I did try to google, so mayne my googleskills are not that good if this has been asked before... :o

I have noticed that I am unable to send a sms while connected to my wireless here at work. Anyone else had this?
 
The official upate is getting closer and closer...cant wait! Will we have to wait for vodacom to mod it or will it be available on kies to everyone at the same time?
 
The update/froyo is for the phone and not the network provider, so we will be able to update as soon as it is released. Can't wait as well.

Must say, I am disappointed in the battery live. Wifi on the whole time and smsing and robo defense for a couple of minutes and I have to recharge every day. :(
 
oh thanks! yeah the battery life is horrible. but its the display that uses most of it so set your brightness on low and disable the automatic brightness adjust. about your sms-wifi problem..it doesnt happen to be but try toggling between normal and airplane mode a few times and then try

@cnshimba to answer the your question, no it allows you administrative rights if you've worked with Linux. So more permissions to system files and resources.
The installation of 3rd Party apps outside the market has always been present.

That is good news. Will see if I can download it if I get back from work. The article listed above says it will only come out later for african countries. Let's hope they are wrong.

But, but, I like the nice display. Arg, it is a small price to pay. I don't mind charging the phone every day. I want to test the weekend without wifi to see if it is better. :)

SMS thing is intermittent, if I resend a couple of times, then it goes. Other times it works without problems. All at the same location, my work desk. :)

I connected my phone, started kies, clicked on firemware upgrade, backed up my contact and low and behold...

...nothing.

The latest version is already installed on the connected device. :(

No luck for South Africans. "Your device already has the latest firmware" :(
 
Anyone have any idea how long such a roll out usually takes? I'm fine with waiting, bought the phone knowing it was 2.1, but don't like having to keep checking for when its ready.
 
Im expecting it around early next week....thats when the UK is getting it. But thats a complete guess. Off topic...how do you guys clean your phone screen?
 
Use some non abbrasive paper and water and once clean get it a screen protector.

Kies hack

There is a hack for kies on the xda forums that lets you get 2.2 from sweden. Okay here's the bad news. Some reckon it's still in beta. And after trying it it definitely isn't that smooth and still has a memory issue or two in other words it feels slightly sluggish. Another issue is that android market is gone intil you reset to factory and then it comes back. Other than that, mp4 video recording, pinch zoom window management, gps fix, adobe flash player 10.1 and some graphical enhancements. Quite cool wish they could just get the snap back like 2.1 with the memory fix ...

Okay removed all the background synching, turned off Mobile AP. Still a little lag. Then I turned all on again and viewed the gallery. Please nobody believe that there is a hardware issue on this phone, gallery is sooooooooo damn fast! It seems to be the application launching and the UI that lags slightly but damn someone tell me they can't take this phone to another level!
