Damn, I was hoping that it would be available!!! Oh well, I've noticed that Kies itself is a lil quicker with the update!
 
Hey 370z, what are the differences u notice with froyo (before I jump in)
 
Web pages are smoother, flash is pretty cool but quite laggy, home screens are more customizable (you can choose how many you want and can navigate to each one more easily. There's also an option to turn off your gprs completely which is pretty handy. The keyboard has changed a little bit and i seem to make less typos. Oh and if you got your phone from vodacom the intro screen has been removed and replaced by the original galaxy s boot screen which is awesome. ...Yep thats about it. Not alot to shout about but im happy

I used the CF-Root-JP6-v1.2-Busybox-1.17.1.zip file.

Was very easy.

Then in the OCLF app, you need to do the EXT2 thing and lagfix.

Please help! I got a Samsung Galaxy S over the weekend (yeah, can't wait for the Desire HD) :)

Anyway, I wanted to install some applications, but due to data prices being so high in SA, I wanted to use the work Wifi. We are allowed to connect to the Wifi at work, but we need to log in. Usually when I plug in my laptop at work and go onto the internet, it asks for my password and login. Now it doesn't seem to work on the phone. It just says can't connect to the network. Also, can't seem to get Kies to search for an upgrade - same problem. Can't connect to the internet.

Any help?

Sounds like your work is using a proxy for the internet.
Not to sure on how to get the proxy settings added onto your phone. :-/.
 
Just call a Makro Vodashop and they tell me there a pay-in of R849 on the phone for a Talk 240. Surely not? Anyone else got this phone recently on contract?
 
You should be able to spread the payin with your contract at about R50 pm. I got it at R79pm payin on business.
 
I disabled data(EDGE/3G) usage on my phone, cause I am using wireless to access the internet, in a attempt to save some battery life. :)

Anywho, whenever I try to download something, lately, it says, download unsuccessful, even when trying to download with EDGE (CellC, for someone else)...

I had that at one stage. I think a reboot fixed it though. But not sure if i had flashed a new ROM on after i rebooted :p

I have a slide in pouch that i used for a while. But i stopped using it about a month ago. The phone does not really need one unless you are very fussy about scrathes on the back.
I dropped my phone yesterday for the first time. Landed on the screen. I cried a little. Then picked it up and it didnt have a scratch on the screen at all :-). It now has a slight graze on the top left corner but unless you know its there you won't see it.

It really is more rugged than reviews suggest.
 
yA, it is much stronger than it llooks! I was fiddling with my phone while walking in V&A and i dropped it, it was slow motion, I stood there transfixed with horror and my phone woer-woered towards the hard press tiles!! and smashed into them. my cover went flying and my phone landed on its screen! EEEEEEEEEEk I my heart almost stopped. ANyway, I picked it up and put the back cover on again, and luckyily no scratch on screen, for that matter i couldnt even find the site of impact. If you look at it you wont be able to tell that i dropped it!
