Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

Hey ettiene, it is on the first page. But there is a better link that I will look for now.

This is the one I flashed. I first flashed JPA, didn't work out very well. JPO is the way to go.

And another good link that is all encompassing

;)

@EttieneK, read my posts directed at bxm in the WiFi issues thread on here as well. Flashing custom Froyo shouldn't take longer than 20 minutes on your first run. After a while you'll be done flashing in 5-10 minutes.

i want to take the plunge and froyo the galaxy.

im just a bit confused about this

01. I don't have 2e recovery, how should I install this ROM? Disable Voodoo (if you have it), then install the corresponding CFRoot kernel to get 2e recovery, then flash this ROM as usual.

What exactly is 2e recovery? Do i have to install this first

which file do i then install?>

You did the 3BP fix that I did a couple of months ago, so you should be fine. Just flash CWM and continue from there... ;)

I think I'm also going to flash Doc Froyo. But does a full factory reset result in me losing all my data??

I flashed DOC froyo, its quite nice.. very smooth! And yeah , you do lose all your data unfortuneatly. But its always nice to start off clean ;-)

If you did JPA, rather flash JPO now. Many people have noted less bugs and slightly smoother experience. I'm running JPO myself and I'm lurving it. :D

Titanium Backup really is the essential app for everyone looking at flashing new ROMs on a regular basis - you can backup the apps and their data and just restore them after flashing. Everything will be just like you left it before flashing...

Where do you find Swype,i have installed it on phone but cannot find it anywhere.
Thanks.

Go to any input field (textbox) and long press on the field. You should get a popup for "Input method". Choose that and then choose the appropriate input method...

Yeah I did JPA.. will reflash this weekend with JPO thanks! Do you know if the lagfix automatically gets installed with this ROM? I have the full package

Lag fix doesn't get installed, seeing as the fix changes the file system on the device. The ROM only installs firmware and leaves the file system untouched. You'll need to implement a lag fix by going to ULF (Universal Lag Fix) settings in CWM. I recommend No RFS, EXT4/a. It's supposed to be the most stable, while giving very fast and smooth performance. It does drain your battery a bit quicker than standard RFS though. I still easily get through 2-3 days of moderate usage on the phone.

Yes, Farlig is correct. Blaaislaai, just check if you can receive incoming calls. if not, just remember to restore to factory settings after you flashed with JPO.

I've installed Beautiful Widget, but now all the skins images appear in my Samsung Gallery, I checked and all the folders does have the file .nomedia. Any ideas on how to not make these images appear in the gallery?

Edit: Eish, my mistake, I made a copy of the skins onto my SD card and never put the .nomedia into the copied folders. It's working fine now.
