Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

My Samsung Galaxy S just went in :/

it wouldn't charge anymore for whatever reason !!! :( now im stuck with a black berry!

And they said it can take from 2 weeks, if its minor, to 6 months if its major. How can they keep your phone for 6 months! they should give me a new one dammit, one month old and ya :/

Thats COMPLETE bull****...! 6 Months....? Are they farking mad. Who you with just so that I know to avoid them...?

Thats said did you guys see Cell C's new contract on the phone..? R320pm for R300 airtime (data/calls) and 1000 free sms's. Seems like a good deal :)

I think you might be confusing it with Virgin, cannot find that deal at CellC. Virgin have it on their website however, R320 24m, R300 airtime + 1000 free sms

Can the Galaxy S screen look/icons look more like the HTC without the need to load an additional launcher? On the HTC you have smaller and more icons on the screen. On the Galaxy they are so big, I prefer the smaller look.

On TouchWiz (the standard launcher), no. Just get LauncherPro already...

South Africa.
XFA = SOUTH AFRICA
XFC = SOUTH AFRICA
XFM = SOUTH AFRICA
XFV = SOUTH ARFICA
XFE = SOUTH AFRICA

For MTN which one should be loaded for the CSC?

Will do. Should I install this before or after the Froyo update?

No need to install Froyo first - LauncherPro works 100% in both. It doesn't do away with TouchWiz, you can choose which launcher to use by installing an app called Home Switcher.

Oh, I sorted out the incoming call issue. I first flash with JPA which caused the issue in the first place. I then flashed with JPO and did a factory reset which solved the problem.

How do you go about downloading and installing the beautiful widget app? Does your phone need to be rooted etc

Sent from my GT-I9000 using MyBroadband Android App

Apologies, you're right. It's with Virgin Mobile. :)

"the company who makes Beautiful Widgets, LevelUp Studio, was sent a Cease and Desist letter from HTC, thus forcing them to stop selling their app."

Can this still be downloaded somewhere?

Edit: Found it, http://downloadandroid.info/2010/08/beautiful-widgets/
scroll down to "Download Beautiful Widget here." - Don't think this is complete, asking to download "forecast animations" everytime I go into settings, but it doesn't download. - I'll start a new thread for this, its not really Galaxy related.

Went in with MTN! but ya, using my Blackberry is killing me, Take me back android! Ill treat you right this time ;)

Any idea when Froyo will be available from Vodacom? I have flashed using XEU but for some reason ended with KOR. Works great but I would like to get back to SA code.
Also the 3 button fix by Richthofen works fine on an SA phone if anyone is interested as JPO does not fix this. Just follow the instructions carefully.

Maybe I've missed this in the previous 60 pages of this thread, but is there fool-proof step-by-step instructions on how to flash my SGS to Froyo?
