Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

Hey Maddmatt have you tried out Darky's ROM, have you noticed heavy battery usage on the new 2.2.1 roms? Busy running Darky's ROM and may go back to a stock 2.2.1

No I'm using the stock one, never seen much point in the custom ROMs personally.

Battery is down to 65% after being fully charged at about 9AM and it's been used quite heavily with wi-fi on all day, so I'd say it's ok.

After some flashing you may need to re-calibrate your battery. Just let the phone get to 100% charge while switched off.
Some people say you need to go through this ridiculous process involving deleting some battery stats file but that's a load of crap in my opinion. I've been able to keep normal battery life after many flashes just by charging it while switched off if I flashed it recently, hell I don't even know if that's necessary.

Cool, yeah this rom is burning through the battery in one day, wifi always on but not being used that heavily!! Going to flash to stock 2.2.1 you recommedn the one in your link? best way to flash back to stock?

Yea the one in my link it what I used, just flashed it with Odin. You might need to do a factory reset coming from a custom ROM, at least I had issues trying to restore settings between a stock and custom ROM once.

Cool will do a fresh wipe with odin and see what the outcome may be, had to use it before to apply the 3 button recovery mode fix

I did that using normal ADB recovery reboot and flashing the update.zip file. But that was long ago. :p

I still need to get around to flashing JPU - might also go the stock route this time around, just to see what Samsung have been up to.

Word on XDA is that the battery drain is because of the gallery. I applied the fix and I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I read somewhere that XXJPU DocRom V3.0.1 WIPE includes the Gallery fix. Which fix did you download?

Haha! Didn't even see there was a Doc JPU 4.0 non-wipe. I went ahead and flashed 3.0.1 non-wipe, as that was the latest when I downloaded yesterday afternoon. Haven't had any issues with it so far and it seems fairly stable. I followed Kalpik's guide for restoring app settings from Titanium Backup, but my Launcher Pro backup couldn't be restored successfully. Had to set up my home screens from scratch.

Is there a way to customize the app drawer in launcher pro. Or is there a launcher that allows this feature. I dont want all the things in my drawer currently to normally show.

Yup, LP allows for that. Just check under the launcher's configuration:

Home Screen -> Menu Button -> Preferences -> General Settings -> Hidden Apps

ADW Launcher lets you organise them into categories that you can switch between using buttons at the bottom of the drawer. I switched from LP and am pretty happy with it, I like the fact that you can set the wallpaper to be visible in the app drawer too.
