I say keep it rooted. But if you don't feel safe with that, unroot and just run root again after reset

Rooting the device shouldn't make an impact on speed. The file-system replacements / modifications are what people refer to as the "lag fixes" for the SGS. Try implementing one of those...
I use oclf and get an increase of about 300 points from about 1300 to about 1600 points...
Im not to keen on messing with kernels and roms to be honest...

Sorry only replying now. Went out for Lunch which changed from lunch into beers. Quadrant scores isn't something that will show you how smooth your experience is. Not knocking OCLF but on 2.1 got over 2000 in quadrant but there is a massive difference for me between that and the stock 2.2.1 with a quadrant score of 1200. with the 2.2.1 way ahead.
In free time I'm doing some benchmarks with the different kernels with different file-systems. And will post that as soon as I'm completed with all the kernels. The benchmarks is mostly useless as its just numbers and dont reflect user experience. But it give an idea of the speed of the different file-systems

Have you tried recording a call thus far? And how big is it for say a minute conversation. Will be good for all the call center calls, when they inform you that they are recording the call, you can also inform them that you are also recording the call for quality purposes.

Did a quick test by checking my airtime. Recorded perfectly.
Saves the to a Sounds/CallRecords folder.
It adds a button to the dialler in a call so you can also start/stop recording manually. Gives no notification to the other person that they are being recorded.
My 19 second recording is 28.13KB. Looks like space wont be a problem.

Basically just one party in the conversation has to consent. So if you're recording your own calls on your phone, it's fine.

I've been using the .apk for the last few days on Doc's Rom and it works great.
I don't care for the legality, but have noticed your last post making mention that it is.
Has just come in handy for playback on those drunken calls from myself or from my friends to me

Tried them a few weeks ago.number did not work.have you been there cos the website says no walk in?
When i called a normal mtn shop they told me that place is the only place... They also told me the landline is down.. Samsung said that they do it...
