Official Vox DSL feedback thread

Damn. They doing their Friday promotion and the 300GB looks like a good deal. But these speed issues are worrying.

So one of my problems turned out to be my Damn news provider. After a stern email last night my nntp magically upped to almost line speed. Stupid mofos. Now it's the http download slowness that's concerning me.

Why cant we get a definitive answer from Vox. I dont want to hear this waffle about "remember FUP"? I have only used 10% of my cap so far this month and my torrents are dead.

You considering it? Thought you were happy.

I have no complaints about CW at all.

However I have family that use small amounts of data (~10GB) per month and I have separate little capped accounts for them. If I get a 300GB account from Vox, it gives me more data than the 225GB I get from CW and then I can let them share this account with me. So not only do I save the R450 vs R694 price difference but also the cost of the extra ISP accounts.

This seems like too sudden of an issue. If it was lack of capacity / over-subscription, there would have been a gradual deterioration. My guess is there's a network problem / backbone problem somewhere which has suddenly reduced capacity, and the automated shaping which wasn't apparent before has kicked in to compensate. The difference being we don't have cvanwie here to tell us the details.

Might be best for those experiencing issues to specify which part of the country they are in.

I'm in Southern Suburbs, Cape Town, and have had zero (0) problems in the last few months. Was streaming Fargo directly from FX at 1080p last night, no problem.

^^ Same here, same area as you and zero issues with Vox. Everything flying at full speed for me, torrents, streaming, downloads... everything. Zero complaints.

Likewise. I think there must be a problem with the Northern IPC.

Definitely a problem on Vox. 2mb line ...

Yep, torrents are dead again, but I guess they all went home and we are stuck like this for the weekend.

YouTube streaming at 480p, no problem at all. 720 taks a few seconds but plays without buffering. Browsing is ok. Http downloads are screwed and trying to stream from Genesis on Kodi is as good as dead.

And now it's back to normal :wtf:

having issues in Gardens, Cape Town.
Have rebooted, will try later...

It's a YoYo situation, then they work , then they dont. Dead again this morning.

Im in Cape Town (southern suburbs), haven't had a single issue since signing up with Vox. Im on their 8Mbps uncapped line. Line has been flying since moving from Afrihost. I was on a 10Mbps line with them and they claimed my exchange couldn't handle it and would constantly cut me off. However, strangest thing ever, my router seems to be syncing at 10Mbps?

Yeah i see so...Im now able to sync up to 21Mbps...

But thought i had to upgrade my package with Vox? Since im currently still only on the up to 8Mbps account and Line. But im definitely exceeding those speeds in terms of download speeds.
