Come on WA what is going on?

Possibly due to this?
Not sure if you guys use it, but I think WA uses IS?

22 MARCH 2013

Multiple subsea cable cuts have been confirmed off the northern coast of Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea, which are impacting a number of cable systems in Africa, Middle East and Asia connecting to Europe.

SEACOM is currently working to establish restoration options on alternative capacity across the Mediterranean Sea and also by adding further IP capacity in Asia.

It is expected that it will take some hours to confirm options and arrange network re-routing. SEACOM will contact customers directly to discuss restoration options.

Would be good to have some response from WA reps - that would be very helpful

If there is a problem with Seacom I thought one of the big benefits of moving to IS was all the various back ups in place?

Hi Guys,

We are being impacted by the current SEACOM outage as per http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/73828-adsl-speeds-hit-by-seacom-downtime.html which is the cause of the slow international speeds.

Updates around this issue can be found on our status page at http://webafrica.co.za/status/. At this time SEACOM has procured restoration on SMW4 and provisioning of this capacity is currently underway.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused and we will continue to post updates via our status page.

Morning,

We have implemented extra capacity on WACS over the weekend, so further impact to users should be minimal.

According to SEACOM they estimate that the cable should be repaired and full services restored by Friday, 5 April 2013.

Our status page has also been updated to reflect this.
