Official Web Africa thread

Think I should just cancel my WA account. 1300+ ms ping on Overwatch every evening between 8pm and 10pm. Afrihost gives me 165ms ping. Been like this for weeks. WA is f***ked

****ing horrific on WA. Useless. Can't be used between 8-10pm.

I want a refund and immediate cancellation.

Ticket #132714 clearly will NEVER be resolved because there isn't enough capacity and they won't admit it because there will be CPA hell fire and brimstone.

I'm seeing 2000ms+ latency to news24.com, facebook.com and www.eu-west-1.prodaa.NETFLIX.COM

F*** this ****.

How pathetic hey. Their network has really degraded over the years. They were never really good to start with, but now they are astonishingly bad. Like dumpster-fire bad.

Dude it's basically theft.

Time to get out the pitchforks and fire.

I'm NOT sticking around for another month of this purgatory.

I've actually ended up cancelling my account and WebAfrica still had the audacity to tell me I should stay for a calendar month even tough they're to incompetent to resolve the problem.

I finally decided Friday to log a complaint at ICASA with all my correspondence and tickets and (the lack of) WebAfrica's response.

In a cruel twist of fate, I had to log into my router and change to my Afirhost account to reply to your post because mybroadband WON'T RESOLVE ON WEBAFRICA AND TIMES OUT!

Please keep us posted.

Did you have to wait a calendar month or was it immediate cancellation ?

I'm done with this. It's white collar fraud.

not sure how to insert an image

Make what you want of the attached graph.
Something changed on the 22nd, and it looks like the problem just shifted

some more ping stats

I'm switching from webafrica end of april.

This has been going on for a while now.

you don't actually expect them to admit they have a problem, do you? :)
more subscribers + less bandwidth = nice profits

I can confirm the latency issue happens in the early-to-late evening, and in that sense it makes sense because thats when the majority of people would be using the net. Also going to drop these losers. I wonder if someone new has taken on the role of customer support, because it seems to have nosedived terribly!

So who would the best alternatives for gaming be. I see alot of people talk about Afrihost favourably. What about the likes of MWEB and Axxess? Any others?

Afrihost tbh

Afrihost is good from my testing - however I do get spikes on Netflix when it struggles to hold a 2160p (say 9-15mbps stream in 4k) and it drops down to 720p or 1080p resolution but recovers fairly quickly. I counted no fewer than 26 hops to resolve to Netflix.com on Afrihost which is double most other ISP's so some weird routing going on.

WA has run out of capacity somewhere along with their IS backbone provider and won't admit it. Peak time cluster**** a dead give away with all the evidence on this thread the last few weeks.

Absolutely disgraceful. Zero support.

Maybe we should get mybb to investigate and post a article about this? Having a network issue is one thing, having basically zero support is another. Reminds me of the openweb scam.

Couldn't agree more.

I ashamed to be using WA and even more disheartened by the blatant ignoring of customers who can actually provide proof of their network problems.

Haven't WA been reported before? Might have been for RAIN.
