Oldham batteries

Need a new 12v battery for my car, phoned Battery Centre as they're close to me, they use Oldham batteries. Anyone know if this is a reputable brand in 2023? All I can find out about them on the web is that they were originally manufactured in the UK way back when, hardly any info on this make that I can find. Any info much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Rather stick to Willard etc.

My insurance jumped my car this morning, drove down to Battery Centre to get a battery test. I pulled the car into their garage and switched off the engine, assuming it wouldn't start again, as there was no sign of life when turning the key. The mechanic asked me to try starting, and what do you know, it inexplicably started.

They then tested the battery, found it to below 12v, and put a new Raylite battery in, wasn't gonna go with Oldham, a brand that I can't find any info on.

New battery fitted, tried to start the car, nada! One of the mechanics eventually found that the little spade connection to the starter below the engine was loose. Once he reseated that connection it started.

Now, did I really need a new battery, as it started with the old one when I arrived? Who knows, you live and learn, I may have gotten another several months out of the old battery.

So, the lesson is, if your car suddenly won't start out of the blue, check the connection to the starter motor!
Still not a waste if the other battery was old, take as a preventative maintenance.

Battery was below 12v, so the alternator wasn't charging battery
Car wouldn't start, loose wire to the starter motor

Dude, what heap of junk are you driving?
