Hey, I hope i am in the right section, and i hope i am not repeating somehting, i have searched the forums but could not find anything, so here goes :

I have a samsung omnia with the JCHH1 firmware, i checked the site and it said updates are available, so i donwloaded the update (+- 160mb) for Windows Vista, i plugged in the phone to the USB and ran the application, it starts of by saying the phone needs to be restarted, then the phone switches off and on, but the application on the computer just sits there, nothing happens ? i left it for bout an hour, then closed the application, tried again, but the same ?

Anyone out there had the same problem / have any solutions ?

When mine did something similar, but in XP, not Vista, it seemed to be something to do with the USB connection, and detecting the phone. Just terminated the process, unplugged the phone, and restarted the installation, then it worked. AFAIK, you must only plug in your phone once the installation app is "searching" for it, I don't think it works if the phone is already plugged in.

Also, did you remove the "Allow USB connections" check in ActiveSync?. I know that you need the modem drivers in XP as well, not sure about Vista though.

I would also suggest checking out the Omnia thread here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=137488
