omni antennae

Most likely, signal might be sketchy though. Why not just stick them on the roof for line of sight and much better speeds.

sorry, my question was unclear, wat i meant was, if my house is 300m away from the antennae(which is on the roof of another house), will i be able to receive the signal inside my house with a normal pci card?

doubt it - not if you're in a normally built residential area. - If you put up an external antenna - it's a no brainer - you'll get signal.

If you have all the equipment already, try it. If not, get a cheap WRT54g, set it to client bridge mode and mount it on the roof somewhere.

And also, omnis are evil!

do you think a wrt54g would receive the signal inside the house, were talking about an 11dbi antennae and a mere 200-300m..?

What's in the 200-300m of space though?

That's what my opinion is based on, that antenna is on the roof, but over the 200-300m to get to your antenna in your PC, it has an ever increasing amount of walls and roofs to navigate to get to as it travels to your PC.

As posted above, if you already have the stuff, why not just try it. Nothing more certain than a simple test.

Theres a hospital in the space.. But i hav line of sight just past the side of the hospital, i can see the house with the antennae..

I agree, OMNI's are evil. All it is good for is to receive and transmit to and from people who don't want it.

Get a nice little directional antenna. You will get much better performance.
