Hi Guys

I saw a while ago when at my uncles place that he had one DSTV decoder in his TV room and then in his bedroom a smaller looking set top box type decoder that connected to the DSTV decoder in the TV room. This smaller set top box received and displayed DSTV on the TV in his bedroom but had nothing to do with XtraView; this set top box basically received the audio/video from the DSTV decoder while also changing the channel of the DSTV decoder when you are in the bedroom.

Does anyone know what this is called or where I can get one?

Thanks.

You need a SLX, and a Eye Link.
Any DSTV Installer can do it. This is for dual view decoders. No extra monthly charge.

Correction: Thats sounds like XtraView, another dstv decoder with a heartbeat cable to the main decoder.

Believe there's a small extra charge involved monthly.

If not xtraview, it could be a remote blaster, for changing channels and the A/V going via Coax cable - or he had one of those remote blasters that transmit A/V wirelessly and also can change channels.

Didn't see your post - but ya that:
AV Extender? Ellies makes one that works okay-ish, until you switch on the microwave.

This sound like he was just using the decoder in the room to relay, the remote commands back to the decoder in the tv room, thus no "eye" or tvlink is needed. No need for a second decoder just purchase a TV Link from multi choice, run a cable from your RF out of your decoder to the bedroom install the tv link in the bedroom and enable it on the decoder. Do a bit of goggling this topic has been discussed many times

I read the ExtraView description and it seems like the XtraView is to watch 2 different channels off 2 different tvs using 1 decoder.

I want to use 1 decoder for only 1 channel shared between 2 tvs, with the ability to change the channel at either location.

Will try the AV extender. Thanks for the help!

cheaper to run a cable from the rf/out of your decoder to the bed room (For A/V)and buy the TV eye (to change channels)

You need the Eye Link then. Any DSTV installer can do it for you.
