Not sure of the uptake of OnePlus fans these days but the new 10 Pro was announced in China./

OnePlus 10 Pro is official: SD 8 Gen 1, 80W charging and LTPO 2.0 display

The OnePlus 10 Pro made its official debut in China today. The new flagship is a big improvement over its predecessor, bringing Qualcomm's latest chipset, faster charging, and a second-generation LTPO screen with even more flexible adaptive refresh rate.

The 10 Pro comes with a 6.7" LTPO 2.0 AMOLED screen of 1440p resolution. The panel supports an adaptive refresh rate anywhere from 1Hz to 120Hz and the second-generation LTPO panel allows it to decrease the frame rate in even more cases, boosting the battery savings.

The phone's chipset is Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is hardly a surprise. It will be coupled with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 storage,.

OnePlus 10 Pro is launching first in China with two color options - Black and Green. The panels have sandstone finish like some classic OnePlus phones. One thing is for sure - they are not your regular glass backs.

Prices start from CNY4,699 for the base 8GB/128GB version, which translates to $737 or €650. The top 12GB/256GB model asks the equivalent of $831/€733. There are just two days for pre-orders, as the first flash sale is scheduled for January 13.

I bought the Oneplus 9 pro in October and love the hardware, but I am not that impressed with the software. Oneplus just made a huge mistake with the Android 12 update and their move away from Oxygen OS to OPPO's Color OS seems to be deterring diehard Oneplus fans from future support.
It will be interesting to see how the 10 does with regards to sales as Oneplus is no longer operating in the "flagship killer" price point they used to.

Yeah I have a 7T Pro and I won't get the newer ones. No support here and they are losing what made them stand out.

I have the 7pro and I agree 100%.

If I could get the battery replaced locally I would probably still be happy with this phone for another year or two.

Probably going to look at pixel, xiaomi, poco or samsung for my next phone.

Yes that is my question, does no-one do the battery replacement here? I did get the phone from Vodacom.

As for next phone I am going to probably go with Samsung as they have better resale value usually and more trade in options, also parts are available for the popular models.

Having said that I'm onto my 6th OP over a 5 year period and have never needed to replace a screen or battery or had any sort of failure or faults (touchwood). Accessories are hard to come by though and I've burnt through a cable or 2, they helluva expensive sourced locally!

The build quality is truly exceptional on their devices.

OnePlus sells 20,000 10 Pro units in first flash sale

The OnePlus 10 Pro arrived earlier this week, and today the first flash sale took place in China. According to the brand’s account on Weibo, the batch went out in just one second, and the income was over CNY100 million (about $15.7 million). That puts the total amount of devices pushed between 18,000 and 21,000.

The sale started took place at 10AM local time and all the available stock was instantly depleted. It took place on the Oppo store, OnePlus.com, Suning, Tmall, and JD.com.

Prices are set at CNY4,699, CNY4,999, and CNY5,299, which translate to $737, $785. and $830. We are yet to hear about the global availability and pricing of OnePlus' latest flagship.

I'm considering the OP10 pro vs the Xiaomi 12 pro. Coming from a OP5T

Both looking like +18k to import

Looks like there is a way to get it locally already: https://www.nanozee.com/product-page/oneplus-10-pro

I'm most lilely looking at changing my 7 Pro this year but cant figure out which direction to go. Most of the upper mid-range phones (~R10k-11k) are a downgrade in terms of Screen/Charge speed/SOC; so also looking at a Samsung for my next phone.

You have not been tracking phone prices since buying the 5T?

Sjoe... What do you okes do with your phones? Im using a OP6, and it still very much does what i need it to do.. still snappy, and battery still decent.
Mine is still working well too. Just the direction they going in, I won't get another.

Hardware and software wise for me is still good.. but like many have said, pricing wise they have gone backwards with what they initially set out to do. Ie disrupt the market.

I can tell you, that even the likes of Vivo and Xiaomi struggle with local sales, despite being present in SA. OP wont launch here, because the market is just Samsung, Nokia and Huawei dominant.

I have a mate in imports who could probably land the 12gb/256gb 10Pro for around 13k all in... If I weren't so broke I would jump on it.

Disassembly: Take a look inside the OnePlus 10 Pro

The OnePlus 10 Pro is now 7 days old and selling well in China. Seeing how it's topping our popularity charts we imagine people outside of China are clamoring for the flagship to reach them.

But while we need to do a bit of extra waiting, here's a disassembly video of the OnePlus 10 Pro that's one part instruction into how to replace a component if needed, and one part the pure joy of seeing the neatly arranged innards of the phone.

For instance, here are the three main camera sensors - the massive 48MP main camera, the 8MP telephoto sharing a connector with it, and the 50MP ultrawide that's on its own.
