OnePlus 15

“bootloader has been unlocked”

What does this mean?
What needs to be done to flash the global version of the software. The downside being the DRM protection Widevine used by Netflix and Disney+ gets triggered. I'm not sure how the fake it to lv1 but from my understanding it is not legit

Thank you @TheNabster

From my understanding its because the bootloader has been unlocked.

This is literally the only thing holding me back from buying the phone, I'm still weighing up my options.
The boot loader is unlocked to switch from colorOS to OOS. Thereafter it is relocked.

Phones, typically, do not ship with unlocked bootloaders.

I can confirm that the bootloader on mine is locked and I have had no issues with banking apps, Google services and Android Auto works without a hitch.

Hey man, care to give us a week update? How are you finding the device in general?

I am genuinely happy with my purchase. I cannot compare it to any recent phones - I am coming from a 4-year old Oneplus 9 pro.
The response is snappy, the battery is amazing - for my normal use it gets at least two days on a full charge. The ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is great - in the almost two weeks of use, I have yet to scan my print for a second time to unlock the device. It just works. The touch response is very fast and you can navigate the screen even with wet hands.

I do miss the alert slider a bit. I liked the physical trigger of switching between ring, vibrate and silent, but that is a small negative. I'm sure that once the plus key receives some additional functionality or ability to customise functions, it will be worth the loss of the slider.

The customization options on Oxygen 16 are endless and you can really make it your own.

If anyone wants me to check or respond on anything specific, you can let me know and I'll try and give some feedback.

Bit the bullet and purchased a 15R from Dubai - their shipping seems unaffected by the war but lets see, i dont mind waiting a few weeks to be honest. The model was the indian version and priced very very favorably so i just couldnt resist. paid R10.5k inc shipping and i'm expecting tax etc to be anything from R1k to R1.5k if not less but guess i'll have to wait and see.

If anyone else has the indian version please will you let me know if there are any noticeable differences ? i know hardware should be the same but in terms of the rom etc which i know nothing about, will my normal apps still work here like banking etc ?

ROM should be unaffected. It's also running Oxygen OS instead of the Chinese Colour OS.

Where did you order it from? And what's the expected delivery date?

They still processing the order so no date as yet but if past experience is anything to go by it should be here within a week or two at most.

Its from Mygsm - i previously ordered a handheld console through them and they seemed really good
Usually i order all my phones through Aliexpress but my usual seller there doesnt sell Oneplus anymore :(

i've got 3 Oneplus phones now, best brand ever! never had any issues with them.

Another rumor... interesting
It appears that OnePlus is set to pull the plug on and shutting down smartphone operations in global markets as the company focuses heavily on China, and this time, there’s more to it.

In a now-deleted Twitter post, Internet tipster Yogesh Brar shared that OnePlus will be shutting down in global markets, instead shifting focus to the entry- and mid-range market in India.

While speculation and rumors have been circulating online for several months, we can corroborate that a source familiar with the behind-the-scenes workings confirmed to 9to5Google that OnePlus will cease operations in certain regions, including vast portions of Europe, potentially as soon as April 2026. A firm timeline was not shared.

lol guys stop tempting me to get another 1+ to replace my 7TP

Mine should arrive on Monday, just waiting for the payment link.
It actually arrived in JHB 2 days ago but i only phoned DHL today :(

Tax was R1200 more or less, i dont know what the seller declared and i'm not too worried about it either :)
Very happy with the overall cost, when i originally posted i used a conversion rate off the seller's site but it actually was a lot cheaper :) so very nice surprise - the price i paid for tax was almost as much as i saved with the conversion :D

now just have to wait ...

The phones arrived this morning. I am currently setting up mine, and I'll give updates once I've had a chance to play around with it a bit.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I bit the bullet and also purchased of Geekwills.com yesterday.
I decided on the 16/256gb as I don't tend to fill up up my phone and it was on sale.

I paid $706 which worked out to R12.4k

Now we wait for delivery.
