OnePlus 15

whats going to happen to oneplus phones flashed to oxygen os when oxygen os gets discontinued and changes to color os? Will the phones get bricked or?

Yes, it's part of OnePlus's masterplan to completely sabotage and bankrupt their own brand...
I dont mean that they will, but wouldn't that brick phones flashed to global rom? As in truth, they are still chinese roms? And not original global roms?

Just a question ,I am not tech savvy but still looking to buy a oneplus flashed to global rom . And worried what will happen to flashed roms when oxygen os Is discontinued.

There would be an 'upgrade' path associated with the currently installed rom.

What I would advise is don't manually download a colorOS file from a 3rd party and flash manually. That could potentially result in a soft/hard brick of sorts.

Do everything via the official channels.

So ota updates will do just fine?

And is any south african using the device in the thread and how is it?

I am currently considering getting an iphone that cost 15000 or get the oneplus flashed to global

Currently rocking an a36 samsung 5g so either phone would be more than great to be honest

Correct, OTA would be 99% safe.

Global Rom is just that. Designed to be used globally, with full support as specified in their T&C's.

iPhone v OnePlus is a very different user experience, for obvious reasons.

R15000 gets you a fully specced OnePlus 15, or close to anyway. I know OnePlus have recently hiked their prices across models.

R15000 won't get you anywhere near a flagship iPhone, new anyway.

In SA the caveat is zero support for OnePlus. Accessories and replacement parts are pretty much unavailable locally. Having said that, most of what one might need is available through Amazon and other online retailers. Hell, I imported a replacement battery for my aging OP 7T Pro, had a local cell phone repair store fit it for me. About R800 all in. Been wanting to get my daughters iPhone 14Pro battery replaced. The hoops one has to jump through to get it down at an iStore is ridiculous!! By online booking only, north of R1300, 1 week turnaround time, back up your data etc etc etc... absolute ballache...

iPhone, on the other hand, is available at just about every major mall or retailer...

I traded my iPhone 6s in on a OnePlus 3T about 10 years ago now and have been feasting out on OnePlus ever since and have not regretted one day of it...

Yeah, a36 to OP15 is a MASSIVE upgrade.

My daily is a OP12, 2 years in now. Brother in law just got a OP15, online retailer, under R13k all in. Incredible device. I've played around with his and the performance is absolutely astonishing.

Where did he get it for 13 k?💀and is it flashed to global?

All in as in customs etc all factored in?

All in yes, Global rom yes.. Geekwills... https://www.geekwills.com/oneplus-15.html

There is a forumite on here that imports them too though... sure he will pop his head above the parapet shortly...
Thank you very much🤝ill keep you guys posted ,when I get the device,I hope it wont disappoint.

Comes with the charger too?

I also heard about widevine l1 being downgraded to l3 since the bootloader is opened whilst flashing global rom, kind of a bummer but still 13 k for such a specced device,2025 flagship too is a steal in my books

And one more question,is the camera as bad as everyone says it is?

Comes with charger yes.

Widevine is not downgraded. That's a false claim. When online retailers do the China to Global conversion they getting it done on a factory/wholesaler level. Everything works as it should, maximum performance in every regard...

Cameras have always been OnePlus's Achilles heel. They're good but not flagship level. Refer to DXOmark for reference. Still the best resource for performance testing...

The OP12 cameras haven't blown me away. Not terrible and at times quite magnificent but you got to work hard to get results and conditions have to suit. I see significantly better from my daughters iPhone 14Pro. Point and shoot, fool proof. I would say I can capture better stills on the OP12 but where you would take 5 pics of the same scene on the iPhone and 5 of the same scene on the OP12, 4 out 5 on the iPhone would be better. The iPhone's video capture is way superior, 5 out 5 every time...

OP15 is much better though, in every aspect.

Rumour has it the OP16 will support camera hardware rivalling other flagships but to be honest, it's always been more about the quality of the camera app, than the hardware. OP developers have simply never been able to nail down the software and married it to just below flagship quality optics... my 2 cents anyway...

Would I not buy another OnePlus based on the camera? Absolutely not! And I do a fair amount of pic and vid capturing on mine. Definitely good enough for the average user...

Perhaps fellow forumites on here, who own the OP15 can comment on the camera and video quality?

Also confirm Widevine is L1
You are a star sand man! If oneplus hired you,I would say they would have never even scaled down operations😂🤝you have fully convinced me to get the oneplus. I am not a photogenic person the only reason I even want the oneplus is solely because of performance and battery life really, but having a phone that can atleast take decent photos and videos ,not great is what I wont mind, also considering in My circle of friends, the best device for taking photos and videos is a iphone 12 base,my expectations of what a great camera is ,is probably really low and I will be very happy with what the oneplus gives me😂also considering I use a mid range a36 too(the last flagship i had was a base huawei p30) . Ill be probably blown away.

I will be getting one soon, will keep you all posted .

My plan is to use the oneplus till I can afford the latest iphone of the year ill be ready to get one🤝, my friends will probably also be loathing at the fact that I decided to deviate from just getting an iphone like everyone else💀

Thank you for the kind words.

I've often considered opening a OnePlus store in SA. If I had the capital I might consider it.

I have a great deal of faith and love for the brand.

Pound for pound nothing comes close.

Oh, on battery life, to all intents and purposes, the OP15 is a 2 day phone and when you do find yourself needing to recharge that feat can be accomplished in around 40 minutes.

Charging speeds fundamentally changed how I use my OnePlus device.

Verses other smartphones I've owned, with OnePlus I never felt the need to throttle back on performance settings to maximise screen on time and in addition to that, I've never left the phone charging overnight or experienced any sort of anxiety of having to check I have time to charge the phone to full when I know I'm going to be busy and away from a charger for the majority of my day.

It's a small thing but strangely impactful on how one interacts with the phone while managing battery capacity.

This is what I also want,im tired of having to constantly charge or be wary of charging speeds. I have a feeling ill enjoy the device more than I imagine

And I just also saw a comparison of video and camera with the competition, yes the device falls short but its not as apparent. One would have to be a pixel deeper to notice the difference

But than thanks for the replies man, appreciate it
