If you went and dug for some no name, no viewed and disliked video, then that just confirms your confirmation bias.

I doubt a video with 80 views majority dislikes is the calibration point.

I can do the same with flat Earth videos!

I'ts a great phone, but not the value for money for what it used to be.

Find 2X retails for $1200, it's basically the 8 Pro with Oppo branding, that's all.

Brands grow up, Oneplus has grown up. They've earned the right to box with the big boys!

They've added the wirelesss charging and IP certification many a reviewer and fan alike has been crying for, since around the time of the OP6 debut.

These additions cost money dude!! You stick a pool in your garden, you think the value of your house stays the same or goes up? You think that Sony IMX689 sensor comes cheap? Nah dude, it costs!! Be realistic...

Anyway, I've posted videos from the who's who of the tech reviewers Youtube fraternity. Who've I left out? Yet you choose to pick on this poor sod and his 80 odd subscribers? Sies on you man, you should be ashamed! :p What's he ever done to you?? Other than debunk your value for money theory? :laugh:

Is it more expensive than the outgoing model? Hell yes! Is it worth it? On the weight of it? Yes!! Will me and you be getting one? Probably not! My economy right now is totally shot to s hit. You, I think, are probably a little better off than me right now and you due for an upgrade. Will it be cash or contract though?

Don't think you going to find more bang for your buck from Samsung though.

Is your neighbour really that hot that you want to be shooting 100x zoom photos of her in her bra and panties? That's just creepy dude! Stop it!! :giggle:
 
I really think Oneplus needs to drop production of the 7T/7TPro but continue with the 7Pro and start it at around $499... the 7Pro would make an excellent entry level mid range phone... It still has a lot to offer at the right price point. Maybe spruce the range up with a few new colours and a bump in camera performance, either via software or a fresher lens.

I don't enjoy that they drop out going models so soon after launching new models.

It ridiculous that Apple, in April 2020, are launching a phone that derives its design cues from a model released almost 6 years ago (September 2014).

Absolutely nuts!! Go google phones from 2014 and see how relevant they would be today?!

I'm so broke right now, I'd battle to pay attention.

In any event, the most cash I've ever dropped on a smart phone is R10k (my current phone, 7Pro). A connection with an imports/exports business brought it in for me. We not all that tight any more so I wouldn't ask him to repeat the favour but with the current exchange rate I don't see him landing it for under R15k and that's pretty much out my price range. No ways I'm going to drop that, cash on a smart phone (broke or not) and contract not an option.

To add, I don't see enough real differences from the 7 Pro, 5G is still a while away from being generally useful and that is the only thing I would consider to be worth the change. Maybe in a year.

Enough difference between? 7Pro and 8Pro? No, there actually plenty. Seriously, in every category on every metric, across the board upgrades. Design might be the only area where they similar and even there, there significant differences...

Not significant enough for me. The screen is already better than most phones, battery is good, camera doesn't really matter to me, radio abilities are very good, it does VoLTE and WiFi calling for me, I don't use wireless charging and the phone is already fast enough for my uses (I don't game).

My 12GB/256GB 7 Pro will easily do me for another year.

Completely agree.
Yeah, I don't have the money either! (current exchange rate doesn't help.)

Current base spec OnePlus 8 Pro would cost over R22k if you imported from AliExpress (shipping and VAT included).
It would be around 30% cheaper if we bought at the +- R14 to USD exchange rate. Still that's R16-17k.

Paid R9.5k for my OnePuls 6T - almost half the price of the 8Pro new when launched. $549 vs $899.
Paid just R8k for my 3T winch cost $439 new.

I don't see this phone flying off the shelves, especially given the current global economic conditions.

Best to wait a few months for prices to fall and the rand strengthen again...

OnePlus has apparently postponed the launch of the mid-range OnePlus Z due to the ongoing coronavirus situation. The phone is now tipped to debut this summer.
