OnePlus 8 series

Aliexpress, gearbest, Carbonite, amazon India, maybe even Amazon US.
Sorry to bother you, but two last questions. Firstly, have you bought a device from any of these places? if your answer to the first question is yes, how do I ensure that the antenna bands will work with SA Networks and how do I ensure the plugs are compatible with the plug sockets we use here?

I have yes. Antenna bands are compatible with our local frequencies. On all Oneplus devices. Only ones to avoid are network locked US stock.

RE plug points, at the very worse you might have to buy a universal adapter. Usually they ship with the appropriate plug point...

Sooo where can i actually buy a oneplus 8? connecteddevices.co.za is running a pretty heavy markup. And I'm not sure which places are safe to import into South Africa

Does the Oneplus 8 Pro support VOLTE on Vodacom or does it switch from 4G to 3G when making or receiving a call?

Has anyone tested Vodacom 5G on this phone?

VOLTE and wifi calling active on MTN and Telkom Mobile on my Oneplus 8 PRO. Unfortunately cannot test 5G.

Hi @sand_man, you helped me with my last oneplus purchase (OnePlus 5t) and I think it's time to upgrade. I used Gearbest last time but they don't seem to be shipping to SA right now. Does Amazon India ship to SA or would I have to use AGS ?

Aliexpress, Pophong store specifically... might be your best bet...

Amazon India do ship to SA afaik...

Thanks I'll look into this.
Would you recommend the new 8 series (8 Pro) or should I go for the 7t Pro?

What you currently using? 5T? How long do you typically keep your phones for?

8 Pro is a beast of a device! Love it and would jump on it in a sec but 2020 happened and my 7 Pro is still going super strong, so......!

There's not a huge difference between the 2 mind you, 8 Pro does have wireless charging and IP68 rating. Improved camera optics is probably the area most would place a premium on. Increased battery capacity and 865 Snapdragon an incremental improvement over the 855+... 8 Pro's screen is highly rated too, but not sure how significant a difference there would be with the 2 handsets side by side..

And then there's 5G... with MTN rolling out 5G it won't hurt having a handset that can take advantage of this technology!

Wonder what the price difference between the 2 works out to? If it works out to less than say 25%, I'd say go 8 Pro... If you can save a chunk of change then maybe 7T Pro... and if you plan on upgrading again within 12 - 18 months....

I see Zeek selling the 8 Pro for 23k!! 7t Pro 256gb model for R17k... That's just over 25% price difference...

Would be very interesting to see how much one could import these for....

I've had the 5t for about 2.5 years now. Only reason for the upgrade is that my son wants the 5t seeing as his Huawei is on its last legs and I'll obviously need a new phone

I really like the 8 Pro's specs but I don't want to get it and then a couple of months done the line the 8t Pro is released and then I regret my purchase. So I thought getting last year's 7t Pro would make sense
