OnePlus 8 series

Got my 8 pro. Looks and feels amazing. Love the blue colour. Shipping from China with DHL took just over a week. Pretty quick considering the circumstances.

I must say that the 120hz refresh rate is a lot less impressive than I though it would be. Yes it's smoother obviously, but it's really not as amazing as reviewers make it out to be.

Busy downloading all my apps and updates now, but I'm very happy with the first impressions of the phone so far.

Congrats! What phone you upgrading from? And what was the cost all in if you don't mind me asking?

How do you find the camera? It is the one let down of my 7T vs my Mate 20 Pro

I barely take photos so I don't know much about phone cameras, but it looks good to me.

Honestly, though after using the phone for a few days, I am very underwhelmed. I was expecting a massive jump in performance, speed and battery life and, while the phone definitely does feel a bit faster than my exynos note 9, it really isn't as big an improvement as I expected.

I also just cannot get used to the gestures on this phone. On the samsungs, the gestures trigger very quickly and are nice and snappy. The OP's are much less sensitive and I find myself having to swipe a few times every now and then to get it to trigger. I was hoping that a few days of building muscle memory would help, but it hasn't.

It's a great phone. I guess I was just expecting more after always hearing/reading about how bad exynos samsungs are and how bloated and slow the software is.

I see no reason to upgrade from the 7T so far. I had a looksee at my brothers 8Pro and I don't think it's worth it to upgrade right now.

I was looking into buying Oneplus 8 to replace my Oneplus 5, but I have decided to wait for the 8T since it is around the corner.

Hi all. I have a case for the 8 Pro advertised in the classifieds if anyone in keen.

Rumour has it the 8T will have a flat display too, not that horrid rounded edge display they used for the 8 and 7 series, which made it difficult for screen protectors, palm rejection and also resulted in some aberrations in the corners.

Pretty sure the 7 and 8 both had flat screens, it was the 7 Pro and 8 Pro with the rounded edge style screen.

My OnePlus 8 has the curved screen, love it. Much prefer it to the flat screens.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has reportedly left the company to start a new venture

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has left the company to start his own venture, reports TechCrunch citing two sources familiar with the matter.

OnePlus was founded in December 2013 by Carl Pei and Pete Lau - who's currently the CEO of the company. The Chinese phone maker gained quick recognition due to its aggressive marketing tactics, which were all devised by Carl Pei who was previously a Marketing Director at Oppo.

The efforts of two men paid off and now, OnePlus is one of the most successful premium smartphone brands in India and other markets.

Pei has been the face of OnePlus in the western markets and has appeared at several launch events and fan meets due to his English fluency. His exit from OnePlus is yet to be officially confirmed, and at the time of writing this, his LinkedIn and Twitter bios still say he's associated with OnePlus.
