I've had the 5t for about 2.5 years now. Only reason for the upgrade is that my son wants the 5t seeing as his Huawei is on its last legs and I'll obviously need a new phone
I really like the 8 Pro's specs but I don't want to get it and then a couple of months done the line the 8t Pro is released and then I regret my purchase. So I thought getting last year's 7t Pro would make sense
So you avoid post purchase dissonance by buying the older model? Clever!!
You get some serious mileage out of your devices it seems. I'd spring for the 8 Pro. Oneplus's release cycle is every 6 months, so there is always a bit of regret doing the rounds with OP customers.
The Oneplus 8 Noord is launching on the 21st of July. Might be worth waiting for that. Every indication is it will be as good as the 7T Pro, cheaper and support 5G...
Cheapest I've seen here is just under 12K.I see Zeek selling the 8 Pro for 23k!! 7t Pro 256gb model for R17k... That's just over 25% price difference...
Would be very interesting to see how much one could import these for....

Those are network locked and tied to T-mobile etc., and you have to take a network plan on top of that too.

I'm gonna wait for the Noord to see what it's like. Looks promising!
Dropped my 6T, so the back is badly cracked. Thankfully no damage to the front or chassis whatsoever.
Gonna either replace it with the 8, 8 Pro or Noord towards the end of the year when prices are a bit cheaper and I have cash to spare.
They only network locked if you take the payment plan, if you buy it cash they unlock it after 30 days
Sorry yes saw that now, the pro is 799 which is still way cheaper then zeek

Also interested in upgrading, currently have the OP 6, very happy with OnePlus products, but their prices have increased vastly since my previous purchase. I'm torn between the xiaomi mi 10 and the OnePlus 8, both at a similar price point but the xiaomi seems to offer more value for money: bigger battery, wireless charging, better camera. Only downside is their software which is poor compared to the oxygen os..
Which one would you guys recommend? Not really interested in forking out the extra cash for the op8 pro..

OnePlus! Xiaomi's software is atrocious in comparison to OnePlus. If you want a true and pretty much pure experience of Android, go OnePlus.
I was torn when OnePlus pretty much doubled the price their devices when they launched the OnePlus 8 series... Hard pill to swallow - but every other manufacturer has done the same in some form or another over the years.
Still the best Android device by far. My 6T will be replaced by the 8 or Noord before the end of this year.
