There would be an 'upgrade' path associated with the currently installed rom.

What I would advise is don't manually download a colorOS file from a 3rd party and flash manually. That could potentially result in a soft/hard brick of sorts.

Do everything via the official channels.

Or they might do the other Oneplus trick and just drop support for any device not on colorOS…

Not via ota but via os updater.... brother in law updated on Wednesday... 0 issues...

OS updater behaves as a mediator/download manager, physically identifying and expediting the download and installation of the appropriate firmware file.

OTA is an incremental over the air update.

So it doesnr require major steps like using a pc etc? Just download os updater and install new updates?

Install it, run it, it should automatically identify your device make and model, what region and firmware version you're running and whether there is an update available.

Currently on a OP12, purchased June 2024 and still going strong!!

If I had the cash I would jump on the latest and greatest, that being the OP16....

Haven't really scrutinized the price difference on a new OP15 v the equivalent OP16?

Might not be worth the extra cost but I've got a feeling it probably is.

OP16 monster battery, ridiculously powerful CPU, significantly improved camera optics. It's a decent upgrade!!

I'm guessing one could pick up a OP15 for around R13k with the equivalent OP16 coming in at around R16k.... hmmmmm... thing is, look after the phone and it's good for 4-5 years easy....
