Someone please send me an invite. My s3 is dying a slow death.

Participate in discussions here more often. I've given away quite a few in the last month. None to spare at the moment though.

So I got my oneplus one earlier this week and I'd like to give my brief thoughts regarding the phone.

I knew I was expecting a big phone, but you can't actually really imagine how large this thing really is. It's a very big phone. Also, the first remark of most people when seeing your phone will be something along the lines of "It's huge!". With that being said, however, the phone's build quality is superb, and looks really nice. It is a good looking phone, and I can't actually believe what value for money you get out of it! I really like the screen, too, which is vibrant (but not overly vibrant) and unbelievably clear.

The best part of this phone, though, is the incredible software. I bought a Nexus 4 last year and could not stand it (coming from an iPhone background). It just wasn't fleshed out enough. Cyanogenmod 4.4.4. is a whole new world and it is truly ridiculous how customisable this software is. Absolutely everything and anything can be changed. I'm really enjoying the software so far, and haven't even explored very much of it.

The battery life is ridiculously good. I unplugged the phone yesterday morning at about 6:30am and have only just now needed to plug it back in. That's pretty much two days of moderate-to-heavy usage. I'm not sure if there are any other phones out there that can do anything similar (especially against the price). The camera also seems really good, from the few photos I've taken so far.

Overall, I feel if the phone were slightly smaller, it may have been my favourite phone of all time. Who knows, I might even get used to the size.

Thanks for your impressions. You'll probably adjust to the size quite quickly. The battery life is excellent, but bear in mind that it hasn't even been updated to Lollipop yet. Lollipop uses the ART runtime instead of Dalvik and by most reports boosts battery life considerably. The Cyanogen team are generally quick to update, and they've already said that they'll have Lollipop ready in three months at the latest, but it probably won't take that long.

Thanks- hoping to wrap this up ASAP :D

Now- what covers etc are you okes using? This Cruzerlite looks great or perhaps one with a screen protector.

It's been 2 years since I got my S3- shopping around for gadgets is quite fun (could do without the invite delays though!)

If you're in a hurry, invites are pretty reasonably priced on eBay. I've got two OnePlus's arriving at PBC tomorrow that will be headed over here first thing next week :)

I've been using a SG Note1 for the past 4 years and over due for an upgrade. I ordered the Nexus 5 from Orange about 4 weeks ago and managed to land a OPO invite 2 week ago.

I got the N5 last week Friday and pretty much had a whole week to use it while I waited for the OPO. The N5 is a beautiful phone: Stock Android 4.4.4, no bloat, good size and good value-for-money.

The OPO has a slightly better processor, than the N5 with an extra gig of RAM. It's size is only millimetres bigger than the Note1. I look forward to CM-lollipop.

Verdict: I'm selling the N5 and keeping the OPO

Don't forget Nova Launcher Prime, QuickPic, Swype and either the Android L Dark or Material Lollipop theme if you want the Lollipop look before the update is available.

Having spent a bit of time with my OPO, I can say that it's an awesome device, feels very premium. It's still damn big, and I think it's something I'll have to get used to. One thing I do prefer in ios (coming from an iPhone 4s) is the notifications. But otherwise I'm super happy, I still need to do some personalisation with wallpapers, widgets, lock screen, etc.

I also have an invite if anyone wants. Only to serious buyers as you only have 24 hours to purchase.

Please don't ask for it then waste it

I usually get more than that. Check if you have problem apps or excessive background syncing.

You reckon turning off gmail syncing will help? Can't tell what else would be draining my battery

Gmail shouldn't be a problem. Maybe your sync frequency is too high on some services though? Check your battery stats and see if any app stands out.
