Yes. BMW is ripping us off with their high priced product!
I am going to "collect" one quickly.
Without anyone losing a physical possession?![]()
Well, the person that I "collected" from would most likely just get the BMW replaced by insurance. His insurance premium would go up though, so while he still has his BMW, he loses a little bit of cash per month. If I stole his BMW again, and again, and again, it would all compound, same as piracy.
There is always a knock-on effect. Plus, his insurance company would be making a loss....
Your logic makes no sense at all man.
By downloading an album you have not had any effect on anyone. Nobody has lost money, nobody has lost property.
Get your logic right before trying to discuss this matter.
Intellectual property.
True, the owner of the copyright may not have lost something physical, but by downloading that content without paying for it, you have robbed the artist of an opportunity to trade.
Actually copyright infringement is not a crime. It is a violation of the law, but not a criminal offence, it is more correct to say it is an offence. Murder for example is a crime. Copyright infringement (legally speaking) is not a crime, it is an entirely civil matter. Those of you who wish to argue this point are wasting your time as the word "crime" is a legal word therefore it has a legal definition.I agree that prices are high, no doubt about that. Doesn't give you the right to commit a crime though. Yes it is a crime. You cannot ignore the copyright simply because you don't agree with it.
Robbing a bank is theft, totally different from a legal perspective and therefore not pertinent to the discussion.Would you rob a bank because you believe that their fees are too high, and you don't agree with the law that says it is illegal to rob the bank?

That argument assumes that the person pirating would definitely buy the album if it wasn't available for pirating. IMO that is of course a flawed argument as perhaps SOME pirates would purchase the album if it were not available on torrent sites, but I highly doubt that ALL pirates would. I for one do not purchase albums anymore as I am not prepared to pay what they ask for them. Therefore if I pirated an album I have not "robbed the artist of an opportunity to trade" (as flawed as that statement is considering you forgot about the publishing house/record label) as I would not have purchased the album anyway.
I would however gladly purchase an album directly from the "artist" instead of through the record labels and retail outlets as it would mean it would be far cheaper for me and the artist would still receive the same amount of money he/she gets currently when his/her album is purchased in a retail outlet.
Most pirates seem to constantly state that they are not prepared to pay the prices asked, therefore they pirate.

You want to talk morals?
Do you think ripping people off is very moralistic? Do 2 wrongs make a right? For me they do.
Do you think i feel bad ripping off people that rip off people everyday? Dude why is it the big corporations always get sympathy while they happily rip us off everyday.
Rather sad sin.
So you are saying these big companies can have no morals and rip us off and we should accept it?
No wonder they charge so much because people actually think like this and buy their expensive goods.
And are you saying that the little people can have no morals just because they feel ripped off? Bit of a vicious circle.
