open relationships?

What Kage is trying to say ocleroux, is that you and your hand have a perfectly good relationship as it is. This just isn't for you...:p

....but surely there can be no harm in occasionally using his left hand? As long as he is open and communicates this to his right hand.

Oh be quiet you two. Rather stop talking and come here and we can form a daisy chain! lol

In the real world I am not aware of "open relationships" that work like this. An open relationship usually ends at the part where they had sex. Another term for the open relationships I am aware of is swinging. There is not meant to be any emotional and long term connection. It is all about sex.
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith are famous enough. They have a publicly open relationship. They have kids and they've been married for years.

Dear god...how is that for blowing your own horn!!! Everone out...there is only room for Kage's head in here!!!! :D:p

BAH!
I'm saying that it is not easy and especially if you have people who do not understand.

OC whispers to his right hand: "It's nothing personal OK, it's just that he takes a lot longer than you do."

I think he's one of those sickos who wouldn't say a word and instead just make it watch...

...in horror.

I don't blame Jada Pinkett Smith - have you seen Will Smith's acting? :D

I do not advocate open relationships or even controlled open relationships.
It takes a very unique partnership to make it happen and a a special combination of individuals to make it work.

The same could be said of all forms of relationship.

So are you saying that you would be hurt/ upset if you found out that this girl did infact mess around with another guy?
Then im afraid to say that you dont understand the complexities of what an open relationship means and you are putting yourself in a bad situation.

When I say it, nah I wouldnt be upset...
Ill let you know how I feel if it happens...

@Kage

Thanks for the answers to my questions.

There is still a difference between having an "open relationship" and swinging.

Swinging involves an activity where you do it together - Meeting a couple for drinks, chatting, and then having sex. Or going to a swingers club for the night and each getting his shag. Point is it is done together. And with people looking for the same, of whom many of them are also in relationships.

An open relationship on the other hand, it is more each person for himself. You organise your own date, at your own time wherever you like. It is not a "together" thing. Here the other person you hook up with can be anyone, even a single person (anyone meaning not like in the case of swinging, people who are there to swing).

I can understand the swing thing to work and how that can be purely sexual, because it is an "activity" with someone looking for the same, but the open relationship option as I have explained it is a bit more difficult for me to understand.
Swinging = Being in a relationship but wanting to shag other people
Open relationship = Being in a relationship but wanting to be single too, or is this the same as swinging?

Where does marriage fit in here? What if a couple is married? What do you guys think of that? What is your opinion about people that plays around while married...with the other partner knowing about it? Is it the same or not? I just personally feel that marriage is sacred bond between people and that should be respected. If you planning on fooling around outside the marriage, even with the consent of your partner, then rather not get married. Just my personal view. Darnn...im such romantic. urg.

Look at it this way.
Swinging is playing Tennis Doubles.
Open relationship is playing Tennis Singles.
Same game, same tools (sometimes) but with different number of people.

Marriage is an institution. It is as relevant as a piece of gold and piece of paper.

A Form of non-monogamy:
open marriage and open relationships, in which one or both members of a committed couple may become sexually active with other partners.

There are many different styles of open marriage, with the partners having varying levels of input on their spouse's activities.

Thats from Wiki.
