Yes, I would really like to know if they distinguish between streaming and downloading like ftp, etc... as essentially surfing and downloading files is the same thing.
 
wonder how these type products work with Gaming? sure itll never be as great as a 1gb unshaped but will it really be that much worse than 384 uncapped Mweb offering?
 
Setting up for another failure

I remember back in the day when they offered openbrowse just how bad my experience was. It always stopped loading sites half way through and just about filtered anything through.

They had different openbrowse speeds and it was a fail since all of them were equivalently slow and intermittently dead.

Then all the Openweb support issues would start. An ISP/product that really disappointed me.

Luckily I've had no reason to complain for the last 2 years since I moved away.

If the accounts are similar to ours which is provided by IS then streaming and ftp is not considered as downloading and will work fine.
Speeds will never be that of capped accounts, but still decent and good value for money.
 
Meh, I'll pass thanks.

For people that just browse and check e-mails, I think 4meg uncapped is a bit overkill (for their needs)

I think even 2GB is more than enough just to do browsing...
I really don't think you will need more than that.
 
Agreed, if you are just browsing and emailing with your internet I doubt you have the knowledge to anything else ;) Because who with any knowledge would only use the internet for just browsing? Especially so much browsing as to justify uncapped.
 
Why always 4mbps? IMO, the first ISP to offer a viable 10mbps uncapped account at a price that isn't highway robbery (*cough* Mweb *cough*) will capitalize on an untapped market.

Well, take it from someone who deals with students. It makes a HUGE difference if streaming is allowed. If streaming is disallowed, then your statement would hold true, otherwise, streaming will chop up 400MB to 1GB per day quite easy for some people.

I am sure when Telkom someday upgraded more than 1% of their 4Mb/s user base to 10Mb/s, you will start to see accounts like that.

Remember when Aki asked this year at the MyBB conference how many people in the room had 10Mb/s lines and only two raised their hands? :cry:

maybe MR BEEP can give us a breakdown on the usage of this acoout. what is throttled to death and what ports won't be affected, i.e. streaming is port 80, so i don't think it will be that bad. but imagine you stream your goodies for the whole day, how much bandwith will it take and what effect it will have on openweb's network? just a thought.
 
niche market perhaps. I am going for the R399 uncapped at night, 15gb during the day option.
 
It waste of time especially now that they do not offer the free calls anymore.
